If you know me from my blog or in real life personally, you know my dogs are my life. I have 2 dogs, Itsy Bitsy, who is 3. and Zoey, who is 5. Itsy Bitsy is a pitbull and Zoey is a pitbull/lab mix. I do not have kids so they are like my kids. To me, their health means the world to me and I have to be able to do everything I can to manage their health and weight and make sure they are the healthiest they can be. Luckily for me, their is Purina® Pro Plan® and it helps give my dogs the nutrition they need to be their best. It is backed by over 400 scientists that includes pet nutritionists, veterinarians and behaviorists.
Purina® Pro Plan® Savor for Dogs has outstanding nutrition, exceptional taste and is a high-quality nutrition with a taste that my dogs love! My dogs tend to be picky eaters but when it comes to this dog food, they gobble it up. The Savor® Shredded Blend Formulas are are made with real poultry, meat and/or fish as the #1 ingredient in all of the dry formulas.

I was super excited with the weight management formula that they have. Zoey is starting to get older and sometimes losing weight is not as easy as it used to be for her. We always go for hikes, runs, and we are constantly active with her but to have a weight management formula that may help her with weight is great!

Now you can get your pet some of this awesome food at PetSmart like we did and if you spend $15.00 on any Purina® Pro Plan® product, 5/31–7/5, you save $15 on your next purchase of 10.5-lbs. or larger Purina® Pro Plan® Dry Cat or Dog Food or Litter by 7/31. Also remember if you have a dog, they are welcome in the store at PetSmart! I took Itsy Bitsy in there and she loved it. The cashier was super friendly to her and the customers were also very friendly.

Now with spring/summer here, you have to make sure you spend some quality time with your pet and make sure they know you love them. I personally love spending my time off work with my dogs. I try to do as much with them as I can which is why I wanted to share this quick 5 tip tutorial on things to do with your pet this summer!

5 Things to Do With Your Pet This Summer
1. Buy them a kiddie pool! My dogs both love this thing. We bought it a few summers back and they both enjoy it. It only takes a few minutes to fill up and its a good way to cool off.

2. Take them for a hike. Dogs love to run/walk so this is always a good way to get them out and going.

3. Take them swimming. Our dogs love swimming and they do not get to go often so we try to take them as much as possible.
4. Take them to Pet events! i.e. SPCA events like pet walks. It lets them see other dogs and socialize.

5. Take them out and just play with them! They are dogs and they wanna play and be active!
These are just a few things you can do to get you pets out and active this summer. There are so many things you can do to make them happy and healthy! Make sure you to PetSmart and be sure to take your pet with you and grab some

Current Weight

I weighed this morning and was actually dreading it. I was scared to death to get on the scale. When I stepped on it, I was convinced I had gained. I had drank over the weekend and yes, I worked out all week but I also had a few things this week I should not have ate. It took me a few minutes before I actually looked at the number and I have lost 2lbs since last week. My current weight is

I am down 16.4 lbs since January. Now I know that doesn't seem like a ton but for me, it is. I am working super hard at the gym 5 nights a week. I am doing weights, cardio, and strengthening. To see the results is amazing.
I am no where near my goal but I am one step closer. Right now I want to get to 175 and then try to get to 165. My ultimate goal is 155 but I want to remain realistic. I am training for the Spartan Sprint this September and I pray I am able to run it and not kill over. I have yet to sign up and I am honestly scared to sign up for it. I will not until I know my body is ready for the journey it will go through and endurance it will need!

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

Back to the Basics.

Lately in ole blog land, I have noticed a lot of bloggers are conforming to the same standard. Back when I first started blogging, it seemed that people were more honest, authentic and original with their post and ideas. Every post was not about making money or selling a product to you. It wasn't about pitching some idea and trying to get internet famous off of it. It was simpler. Blogging was a fun hobby. It was not a job. It was not a career. It was an outlet for expressing yourself, your thoughts and your ideas.

Now a days in blog land, every thing is the same. All the pictures have to be artistically staged. They have to have 20 filters applied to them before they can be posted and lord forbid you actually post a picture with something not photo shopped or edited online. Everything is photographed with a white background with one or two things purposely laid around them. Everything is staged to perfection and everything looks flawless. There is nothing wrong with this but over the years, either you fell into this style of blogging or you stopped blogging. I have lost a ton of blogs that I love because they just stopped blogging. They gave up. They quit.

Blogging has gotten to complicated. For awhile, I fell out of love with it. I was not one of the "cool" bloggers and to this day, I still am not. I do not spend hours on my photography or my blog. It is my hobby and I spend time on it when I can. I do not post every single day and some times I only post 2-3 times a week. I would prefer to post amazing content 2-3 times a week than shitty content 5-6 times a week. I hate how people have tried to make this such a big business. I do agree with posting some branded content once in awhile because yes, money is nice, but not every post. I have about 2 post, maybe if that, a month that is sponsored. Past that, it is all me. Everything I post is from me. I do not go around stealing ideas or checking out other bloggers and trying to copying them like some do. I post what I feel like. I post what I think means something to me. Who cares if it means something to someone else as long as it speaks to me? My blog is more of a diary for me than it is anything else. If someone reads it and is able to relate to it and loves  it, that is awesome. That means that there is still someone out there, like me, on the same level as me and same thinking as me.
Now this does not mean I am against popular bloggers or big bloggers. Props to them to take hours out of their lives to photograph the right angle for a picture and make sure their content is just perfect for their blog. I do not have the time nor the patience for that. I prefer smaller blogs. Blogs that speak from the heart. Blogs that are honest and there for you. Blogs that are not fake. Blogs that are real and speak the truth.
I promise to never turn into one of those bloggers. If you ever think I am, please tell me. I never want to be a blogger that pushes products in every post or tries to sell my e-course or something. I think blogging needs to go back to blogging. Just writing your feelings, your day to day stuff and how your life is going. It need's to go back to the basics.

Miranda Lambert Concert #4

Over the weekend I was able to go see Miranda Lambert and Kip Moore in concert at the WMZQ Fest in Virginia. I entered a local contest with our radio here and I actually won the tickets. I have pretty good luck when it comes to winning tickets over the radio, I probably just jinxed myself though.
This was my 4th time seeing Miranda Lambert in concert and 2nd time seeing Kip Moore. I took my best friend with me and it was her 7th time seeing Miranda Lambert.  She is the one who turned me on to Miranda Lambert. I sort of liked her but then when we became best friends she got me to love her and since then, I have had the biggest girl crush on Miranda Lambert. I would die if I could meet her..10 seconds and a hug is all I need.
The concert was really good even though the weather sucked. It was rainy the entire day and the parking lot was a mud pit. The sun never came out and it got super cold before the night was over. A girl in front of us decided to puke and the couple beside had their kids with them. They also did not buy seats for their kids which meant their kids were constantly in our way and poor Jess, they kept touching her and sneezing on her. Me, being the bad friend I am, did not offer to switch seats with her!
The venue was nice besides the weather. It was a little pricey...one of the priciest I have ever been to. I had to pay $15.00 for a beer which is insane because I can get a case of beer for that price! I am not sure if I will ever go back there but it was an amazing day with my best friend!

Tips for Being a Healthier You!

For me, being in shape is a top priority right now. I am focusing on me this year and losing weight to be a happier and healthier me. Back in March, I joined a small gym where I live. I have went from 195ish to 180 in a few months. I hate how heavy I was and I was sad and disgusted with myself for letting me get to that point.

Motivational quote Reposted by <a class="pintag searchlink" data-query="%23ParadisoInsurance" data-type="hashtag" href="/search/?q=%23ParadisoInsurance&rs=hashtag" rel="nofollow" title="#ParadisoInsurance search Pinterest">#ParadisoInsurance</a> <a href="http://www.paradisoinsurance.com/#/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.paradisoinsur...</a> <a href="/paradisoins/" title="Chris Paradiso">@Chris Paradiso</a>
I wanted to share a few tips/pointers on how I am managing my weight loss and how I am losing weight.

1. Workout! I find going to the gym helps me the most. I try to workout 5 nights a week for at least an hour. I added weights into my routine and I have really seen a difference in myself and my body since March.

2. Eat healthier. I know this is a no-brainer but for some people, they do not realize how unhealthy certain foods really are. I do not eat fast food. If I go out to a restaurant, I get healthier options. I no longer snack on chips and candy. If I have a salad, I get the dressing on the side so its not drenched on my salad.

3. Get up and move. Stay active. I work a desk job and sitting down all day is not good for me. I have a Fitbit so that helps me some with moving around. Every hour it tells me to get up and walk at least 250 steps. I try to get in 10,000 steps a day so every bit of movement helps me. I walk to my car from work everyday which is a good 10-15 minute walk as well as cardio at the gym. If you are debating on getting a Fitbit, do it. It helps me stay motivated.

4. Indulge. I know that sounds backwards but for me, if I want ice cream or a snack, I let myself have it. I do not binge eat on it and I do not deprive myself. I find that the longer I deprive myself of a craving, the worst off I am when I finally eat that food. If I want a slice of cake, I will have a small slice. It is all about portion control.

5. Get your family/friends involved. I find that I do better when I have a friend or family member with me when I am working out and plus, everyone could use a little time to work on their selves as well.

6. Have FUN activities. I run 5ks and OCR races year round. For me, they are a blast. They are a way to be active, healthy and also..they are so much fun. I always run them with friends and it helps me stay motivated.

7. Set Goals! I set a goal a few weeks ago to hit 180 before the beach and I made it. My next goal is to be 170 before July 4th. This is a completely realistic goal and there is no reason why I shouldn't make it there. I find making goals for myself, helps keep me responsbile for my own actions.
8. Do not give up! If you have a bad day and eat wrong the entire day and do not workout, do not give up. Start over the next day. Do not let one bad day ruin your weight loss journey.

Beach Recap

I just got back from a 4 day beach trip to Virginia Beach. I live in Virginia and the beach is only about 3 hours away from our house which makes a long weekend trip worth it. We always go 3-4 days and this year we did a 4 day trip with my husband and my niece.
The weather was for the most part good. It has been raining non-stop here in Virginia and we got lucky to have to clean days on Saturday and Sunday. When we arrived Friday, we got soaked as it poured down rain as we were walking back to our hotel.
We spent most of Saturday on the beach and some of Sunday. The water was chilly but once you got in and were used to the chill, it was fine! My niece had never been to the beach before and she absolutely loved it. She didn't want to leave the beach and go do other things. She was all about the water.
Me personally, I prefer to sun bath and enjoy the sand instead of being in the water. I am pretty pasty white so any sun I can get without getting a burn is much needed.
This trip was a lot of fun. My only regret is that we were not there longer, I did not take nearly as many photos as I normally do either. I tried to disconnect a little bit from the internet and it was nice to not be worried about my phone 24/7. It was a good disconnect for a little bit. Yes, I did check stuff but I was not on my phone the entire time.
I recommend everyone to go to the beach for a 4 day trip. It is so much fun and you have a blast. I am planning a girls trip next!! Just another reason living close to the beach is amazing!

Balancing a Blog + Full Time Job

I work full time during the week and it can be very time consuming. There are some days I have to work even when I go home after I have left work. Adding in being a blogger on top of it, and your life is pretty swamped. For me,  I started blogging as a hobby. It was a way to express myself and have fun. It then became a chore. After working full time, going to the gym and coming home, blogging was one of the last things on my mind. It has taken me a long time to find a good balance between everything but I believe I finally found it.

Here are some tips that have helped me balance out my life, work, blogging and everything in between.

1. Write it all down. I write everything down. If I need to do something at work, I write it down. I even have a notebook just for my blog ideas. If I do not write down everything, I forget it and then I am losing good content.

2. Take a ton of pictures. When I am going out to dinner, drinks, vacation or just every day life, I am constantly taking pictures. I know it can get old quick but you will be thankful that you took those pictures. I believe they help the blog post and you are documenting stuff in a fun way.

3. Tell people! I know some of us are scared to tell anyone about our blogs. A lot of us keep them private or discreet and only let a few people know about them.  I have started to tell more people about my blog. I used to be scared/ashamed of it but now that my content has improved, I am not so scared anymore.

4. Don't be scared! Before getting bolder as I am now, I was scared to take pictures out in public of pictures of myself. I always worried what others thought. Not anymore! I will snap a selfie, a picture of my food or anything else that I feel the need to take a picture of.

5. Take time to be yourself. I find that some bloggers are extremely fake on their blogs. They post "original" content that is not so original. I get that yes, your blog is pretty and has some great stuff on it but do not copy other big bloggers. Make it your own and do something different that no one else has done.

6. Take time out for your blog. I blog at night/weekends. I find that I blog well by just sitting at my kitchen table with noise, the husband and the dogs. It helps me be creative and think of new things to blog about.

7. Make every day things fun. When you go out to dinner/lunch/concerts/etc make them a memorable trip. Make it to where when you look back on it, you are smiling and happy to see it. This also has #2 in it as you can document your night/evening/day with epicures!

8. Make time for yourself. You do not have to blog every day. You do not have to have a picture or some amazing content every single day. I take breaks from blog all the time. If I feel like my content is lacking, I take a step back, breath and give myself time to focus. When I am stressed at work or home, it helps to relax and not worry about the blog!

What are some tips you do to balance everything?

Rugged Maniac VA 2016 Spring

I finished my 3rd Rugged Maniac over the weekend. It was a blast. This was by far the muddiest race I have ever done. It rained the entire week before the run so it was covered in mud and even the underground obstacle tunnel was filled with water.

This was the biggest team we have ever had for Rugged Maniac. Our team name every race is Suck It Up Cupcakes! We love this race and almost all of us have done it more than once. My friend's sons ran with us as well and they were such a big help. I tried every obstacle except that warped wall and the boys helped us whenever we needed the extra push.

I love running OCR and Rugged Maniac. There is such a huge feeling of accomplishment when you cross that finish line and get your medal. I love doing these and plan on doing the fall race this year as well.
My legs and arms are tore up from the race. There was a lot of gravel in places that it normally wasn't but hey, whats a little blood and sweat? It was worth every scratch and bruise that I have. If you are thinking of signing up, do it! This is a fun race and worth every penny to do it.

CASPCA Bow Wow Walk 2016 +a video

Over the weekend, I participated in the annual CASPCA Bow Wow Walk in Charlottesville. I did this walk last year and it was a blast. It is only a 2.5 K which is about a mile and half or something. It is not that much. The weather was a little dreary but it was better that way. Last year it was super hot and Itsy Bitsy did not like the heat!

This year I finally have a GoPro. I took it with me in the hopes of filming more than I did but I did not have the dog harness for it so what is below,is what I got.

I am still learning how to use my GoPro so if you have one and know how, let me know! I want to be able to add music to the videos.
Our team for the walk raised over $7000.00 and the walk itself raised over $56,000.00. To me, that is amazing. I raised $305.00 for it and my goal was $250.00. I am hoping to raise $500.00 next year. All of the proceeds go to the animal shelter and that makes me so happy. These animals need our help and they can't do this alone!
