Treats 4 All

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #Treats4All #CollectiveBias

Living where we live, Halloween can be difficult. We live in the country and you can not just go door to door for trick r treating. You have to drive anywhere you want to go and most people do not participate in trick r treating in the rural areas. Lucky for us, we have a fun go to solution for still enjoying Halloween and having a blast.
The best part is all we have to do is go to Walmart, buy a few of our favorite items and we can have an amazing Halloween family fun. Ever year we like to do a fun Halloween themed movie night at the house with my niece. She loves, we love it, it works out! This year we went to Walmart and rented a movie, got some STOUFFER'S® Family Size Lasagna, NESQUIK® Ready to Drink Chocolate Milk, and some NESTLÉ® Jumbo Assorted Fun Size Candy. The candy has the cutest Halloween themed bag.

Since we are unable to actually go trick r treating, we make our own candy bowl and eat what we want! Plus it is delicious and makes for a good snack when you are watching a movie. My niece is with us a good bit of the time and I love that we are able to do fun things with her that she enjoys and so do we. Halloween is one of her favorite holidays. Living where we live, we have to come up with ideas and ways to have fun.

We also made some Halloween cookies. We bought the NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Cookie Dough and Morsels. They are super easy to make. You just pop them onto a cookie sheet and bake. We added some fun Halloween Marshmallows and some crumbled up Butterfingers from the candy we bought. They were so yummy and everything melted on them since they were fresh out the oven.

We had a fun and safe Halloween themed movie night at our house. We had yummy  STOUFFER'S® Family Size Lasagna for dinner and had candy and cookies for dessert while watching the movie. What are some of your Halloween traditions or what are things you like to do around Halloween? Be sure to let me know in the comments below! I can't wait to read them all!

Weekend Recap

Why is the weekend already gone? I mean seriously, could it try and stay just a little bit longer? I would rather work 4 days and have a 3 day weekend every week. Who do we need to talk to about this? The weekend was super busy for us and it flew by. I had my amazing niece all weekend long. I love having her over at the house. She makes everything seem okay.

Some highlights from the weekend:

1. I got the new iPhone 6s. I love it. I am still getting used to it and will be much happier once a case is on it. At first I was like ehh...I miss my old phone but not now.
Follow me! Click here!

2. We did a movie night on Saturday for a post this week! Stay tuned for that.
3. We hit up Target on Sunday to get new stuff for Amanda's bedroom. I only bought stuff on clearance and I got amazing deals. Make sure you check out ALL of the clearance sections in Target. I got a complete bed set for $11.00. I was blown away.

4. We treated ourselves to pizza and Sweet Frog after our shopping adventures. It was much needed as Target can wear you out!
It is very rainy here this week. It has been since last week. Hopefully it clears up and we can enjoy this amazing weather in Virginia! Cheers to a good week!

Easy Chili!

I am all about simple and easy recipes during the work week. This one is super easy and taste delicious! Chili is one of my favorite winter foods to eat.
What you need:
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 envelope (1 3/4 ounces) taco mix or chili mix. (I like taco so it is not as spicy)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 can (15 ounces) kidney beans or pinto beans, undrained
  • 1 cup of frozen corn
  • 2 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained (I don't use this because I don't like tomatoes)

Heat oil in a large, heavy skillet. Cook ground beef and onions over medium heat until it is no longer pink. Stir in chili/taco seasoning mix, then add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve with cornbread or crackers.
Easy Chili recipe serves 6-8.
It is super easy and super yummy. It also makes a good dip with tortillas chips as well and some people like it on hotdogs instead of buying that gross canned chili!

This weekend, I had my amazing niece over a for a few days. Every time I get to watch her, she reminds me of how precious life is and how you have to life every day like it is your last day! She makes me want to be a better person, a stronger person. With everything she has lost, it makes me realizes that the little meaningless things that set me off, were not worth getting that mad over in the first place.

Amanda has lost a lot in her short time. She has gone thru more than a 12 year old should have to. She has lost her dad and her brother within 2 years of each other. Every day she is smiling, she rarely has an attitude and is always making others laugh. My nephew was asked about his outlook on life, before he passed away, that  “I think it means that when life is getting you down, just put a little humor in it to make it go up. Humor can make you laugh, make you happy, and cheer you up.”Dax was 12 when he passed and for him to have that kind of out look, makes me happy knowing what he knew. His sister is the same way. She always wants to laugh and make others happy. She is honestly a inspiration to me.

My main reason for this post was, life is short. There is no reason to get upset or angry over little things. I am working on that. I want to make sure that I cherish every day. Things happens. There is nothing you can do about what happens but you can change the way you handle the situation. All I know is I want to be able to make others laugh and feel good. I don't want to be a mean person, someone who brings others down. No one is perfect and we could all use some work. I don't think it hurts anyone to be kind or nice to someone! Take time to smell the roses...take time to love life, enjoy it and don't be so rushed!

TTC Update #5

I figured it was time for another TTC update. I try to do a few of these a month. It helps me get my frustrations out and others get to know what is going on and how I am feeling. If you want to catch up on my previous post..just click here!

I have been on metformin for about a month now. I don't like this medicine at all but I know in the end, it will be worth it to have a child. I have lost about 8lbs on this medicine. It makes me sick to my stomach. I am constantly getting sick if I eat to much. If I don't eat at all, I feel like I am going to pass out. I still have one more pill to take and then I will be on my highest dose that the doctor wants me on. I just hope that when I go up a higher dose, my body says ok we won't go crazy on you this time!

I thought I may be pregnant last week. I was feeling horrible and I was having some symptoms of early pregnancy. I took a test and it was negative. At this point, the negative test are just routine for me and I would be SHOCKED to ever see a positive

The good part about this is I am eating so much healthier than I was. I am careful about what I am putting in my body and I am trying to be really good at what I eat and do. I even quit drinking!! That was hard. I knew at some point I was seriously going to have to give it up since we are trying to have a baby. I never really took much thought into it until I got on metformin. Every time I drink, I get sick. No more booze for me until we have a child finally. So pray for me. I need a kid..and booze.

I am so looking forward to the post that says we are pregnant. That day can not get here soon enough!

Effortless Meals + A Veggie/Cheese Tray Tutorial

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #EffortlessMeals #CollectiveBias

With school back in, I am super busy. I work at a college and I am helping with my niece. Life can be busy some days and I do not always have the time to make a home cooked meal. My husband and myself both work full time jobs. We help get my niece from school, to gymnastics and many other things she is involved in. Some nights, cooking just does not happen. Luckily for me though, there is Effortless Meals at Walmart.

The Effortless Meals are perfect. I can stop on my way home from work, grab a Marketside Rotisserie Chicken or a pizza and pair it with my favorite Coca-Cola product! My favorite one to get is the Rotisserie Chicken, a 2-Liter Coke and some macaroni salad. It is quick, yummy and not bad for you. Plus it only cost $10.34! You get a meal that can feed a family of 4-5 people for $10!!!! You can also get a HUGE pizza instead of the chicken if you wish. Let me tell you, that pizza is amazing! I prefer it over any other pizza!

Now since we are always so busy, we don't always have the time to eat healthy so I try as much as I can to throw in some vegetables in our dinner routine. When I buy the effortless meals, I always like to make a quick veggie/cheese tray to go with the meal. I make a simple ranch dip to go with it. It is always a hit and everyone loves it.

Quick 5 Minute Cheese/Veggie Tray

First you want to buy all of the ingredients. Lucky for you, they are all at Walmart. You need to buy: 1 1-oz. packet Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Dips Mix,1 16-oz. container sour cream, broccoli crowns, carrots, cheese and some crackers.
You then want to mix the sour cream and dip packet together in a bowl. Then cut up the carrots and broccoli crowns. Add them onto a nice plate. Then add the cheese and crackers. Put the dip in a nice serving bowl in the center of the plate. It can be used for snacking or as a good side dish for the main meal.
Be sure to check out more delicious effortless meal inspirations! Let me know what recipes and ideas you use when it comes to Effortless Meals at Walmart!

Things I Am Exicted For!

Lately I have been on a little spending spree. Don't tell Chris!! I have decided to treat myself more often than I do. I wanted to share a few of things I have bought and when you see them, you will understand why I am so excited for them to get to my house.

1. iPhone 6s Rose Gold. This really does not need a explanation. I bought this the day it came out BUT I was eligible for a upgrade so it was not as pricey as some had to pay for it. I will get it in about a week and a half and I am super pumped for it. I currently have the 5..and it sucks!

2. My makeup organizer. I never thought I would be one of those girls that is obsessed with makeup but as I get older, I love it more and more. In no way due I have amazing products or $50 foundations but I have a lot of stuff and its growing and growing. I want to make sure I do take care of what I have and that I am not just shoving it in a drawer.

3. Contouring makeup. I finally broke down and bought some contouring foundations and stuff. I wish it was here but I have to be patient and wait for it to come. Fingers crossed  I can figure it out!
4. I ordered me a new Naked Palette. I had a ton of coupons and points saved up and got it for a lot cheaper than it normally is! I love these palettes!

I will hopefully be able to post a youtube video if I am able to figure out the makeup!!! What are some things you are happy/excited for??

Pete Scobell's Walkin A Wire

Everyone has to deal with loss. I am have had to deal with it a lot lately and I do not like it. I lost my amazing nephew Dax about 2 years ago to a gun accident. I then lost his father, my brother in law, in July. Losing someone is hard. You never get over it. You learn to cope with it and make it day to day. Pete Scobell's new album Walkin A Wire, honestly, helps. For me, there are so many songs I can't listen to anymore. They make me sad, I start to cry and some are the most silliest songs that you wouldn't think would do that, but they do.

One of the song's on Pete Scobell's album is called "Wild" and is about the loss of a friend. Now I will admit I cried but it helps sometimes. I don't want to ever lose any memories of Dax or Dan. I never want to forget them. There is not a day that goes by I do not think of them. I would give anything to have them back. The song is amazing. I am excited to buy the album. I will tell you, I did get a sneak peak to the album and I love it!! It reminds you to count your blessings and keep what is truly important, close to your heart.

Now not only is the album really really good, but it is music that deals with loss, life after the military, and supporting our veterans in their endeavors once they return to civilian life. Scobel is a veteran who had many tours of duty overseas, he suffered a traumatic brain injury and is still looking at the positive side of life. During his treatment at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, he was encouraged to play music to help heal. He had played most of his life as a hobby. That is when Walkin A Wire was created from his own life experiences.

Now here is a fun part! I have a signed copy of the Walkin A Wire CD. I also am giving away a Orca Cooler which is valued at $269.99. Now you can't tell me you don't want one of those? To enter for the signed copy from Pete Scobell, click here. To enter for the Orca Cooler, click here!

Let me know if you like his cd! I am a huge country music fan and I hope to see Pete Scobell in concert soon!

My long weekend is officially over and I am not happy about it. It was not long all. I really only got to enjoy Saturday. We went to a friends house, had some drinks, played cornhole and had a good evening. Later that night though I had a ton of missed calls and text messages. My grandmother was being rushed to the ER. Her heart rate was in the 130's and it should be around 50-60. They did a ton of test on her and could not figure out the problem but after changing some medicine around, it seems to be working. She came home yesterday. I am so glad she is okay and have no idea what I would do without my grandmother. She is an amazing lady.

Some good TTC news is that I believe this new medicine is working. It does make me feel sick some and I don't want to eat much but hopefully this will be the start of something amazing and it keeps working for me. Fingers crossed everyone! I am also back into my weight loss journey. I really slacked off back in July and I am making up for it now. I have lost 6lbs already! I can not wait for it to be 10-15 lbs.

I am still loving my new job. I have been here for over a month and I have to say, it is one of the best career moves I have ever made. I am glad I choose to move to this department and I am so excited to see what is ahead for me. Working somewhere, that you do not like, is hard and I am glad I found a place that is nice, welcoming and fun.

I was supposed to be on vacation this week but as you can tell, I am not. I was supposed to be in Maine loving the weather, hiking, drinking and doing whatever I felt like. Due to my new job, I thought it was to soon to ask off for a week so I am not in Maine. I miss it and I will see it next year. I do believe a short weekend trip somewhere is going to have to happen soon.

I am hoping this week flies by. I want a short week, no stress and relaxing. That will probably not happen but hey, a girl can dream!! I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend!

5 On A Friday

This has been a long week for me. My body is starting to get back to normal since I started taking metformin. It is giving me hope and I really needed it. It is nice to be able to think happy thoughts about pregnancy and actually see that it may be in my future.

1. PSL. Pumpkin.
Spice. Latte. I finally for my first PSL for the fall this year. I was super excited about it until the man at Starbucks was a jerk. I am not going to let it get me down. My PSL taste amazing!

Follow me on instagram!

2. Urban Decay Smokey Eyes Palette. Yesterday,  I went to dinner with all of my co-workers from my job. I left there about a month ago. One co-worker gave me the palette as a gift. Who can say no to that? I am excited to play with it this weekend.

3. 3-Day weekend! Praise baby Jesus! It is a 3 day weekend. I need some rest and relaxation!

4. Fall Street Festival. The fall street festival for my little town is this weekend. I love it and have missed it the past few years because we were always traveling on the day it was held. I finally get to go and I am ready for it!

5. Losing weight! I am starting to notice my clothes are getting a little looser on me. I think the metformin, weight watchers and me working out more often are really helping me. Fingers crossed I can lose the 10-20 lbs I need to lose!

I am staying positive for the rest of the day. I am ready for 5:00, to see my husband and lay in my bed. I hope everyone enjoys their weekends!!

Cream Cheese Cinnamon Bars

With fall coming up, I love making new desserts and baking. I don't like to bake during the summer. Only fall and winter. I know, I am odd. I make this dessert from time to time. It is super easy to make and only takes a few minutes to put together. With me, I love a quick, easy and yummy recipe.

Here is what you need:

Cream Cheese Cinnamon Bars
2-large tubes Pillsburry crescents rolls
1-cup sugar
1-tsp vanilla
2-8oz cream cheese softened
3/4-cup sugar
1-stick butter
1-tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla(the best thing to use is a kitchen aid mixer! It makes the job go quicker and easier) Unroll one of the tubes of crescents but do not pull them apart. Put them on the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the crescents. Put the other tube of crescents over the cream cheese. Pour the melted butter over the crescents. (I do not use all the butter..this is all on you) Mix 3/4 cup sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle it over the top. Bake for the 30 minutes then enjoy. We eat this hot or cold. It is good hot with some vanilla ice cream or even fluff and nutella on top.

Let me know if you make it and how you like!
