Life As Rachel: July 2014

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

There comes a time when you realize that things you want are so much different than the things you wanted a year or years ago. Lately I have realized that there are a few things in life I want that I would never have imagined I would want for my self or my husband or would have seen my self with. I could never have seen us owning our own home but we do. That was a long journey but I am very happy that we did it.

We have a big decision to make in the next year and I am excited and ready for it. We have both grown together and individually. For us to come together and decide that we both want the same thing at the same time is amazing. I have changed and grown in so many ways. The past year has been hard and horrible in so many ways and still want something more than me or my husband is amazing.

We are planning on having a child sometime in the near future. In no way am I saying I am pregnant right now. All I am saying is that for us, this is a big step. We went from saying NO, not at all, we do not want kids to 100% lets do this. I am very excited for the future and I can not wait for everything to happen. I do not want to rush things but I can not wait for everything to happen. It is going to be great journey for us to take on!

If there is any advice you can give me..give it to me. I know there is no right moment and there is no point in waiting for the perfect moment. We have accepted that. We have a few goals and are working on them. Once we get past those, which are very reachable, we will plan for Little Baby.

Life = Vitamins

Have you heard of Life= Vitamins?? Well I had not until I was sent some to try and let me tell you...I love them!

I was sent the Focus and Energy Vitamins to try. All you do is take 2 capsules a day as needed. They have hours of long lasting energy. They are sugar and calories free and I did not experience any sugar crash. Sometimes when I am at work, I struggle with staying focused and I always have that afternoon slump. Taking these vitamins have really helped me stay focused and keep me awake! I would recommend them for sure! I need re up on them my self! Also with every purchase Life= donates a equal amount of children vitamins to children under five that are suffering from malnutrition worldwide!

One thing I really love about this company is that they don't just offer one type of vitamin. They have prenatal, probiotic, women's multi and men's multi as well. As someone who is looking to have a baby in the next year I will be ordering some prenatal vitamins and I believe this company may be who I go through.

Now Here is a special offer! Take 75% off and free shipping It is a monthly subscription option! Do these steps.
1. Visie
2. Select Monthly Delivery
3. Use Code FIRSTMONTH at Checkout

If you have tried these let me know what you think! I am excited to get started on the pre natals in a few months!

High School Reunion Pt.2

Remember a little bit ago when I wrote a post about my high school reunion? I was pretty upset. You can check it out here.

Quick recap..I moved to that area right before high school and lived there for a few years after high school. A few years ago when I started dating my husband,  I moved back to my hometown where I grew up. I now live here and plan on never moving away. I love it here, my family and friends are here. My life is here.

Last night I was chatting with someone from here and they asked if I was going to the reunion. Well I did not graduate from here unfortunately and I mentioned that. They said it did not matter and that we grew up together and that I grew up with most of those people. It was more about just seeing old friends. There was a few others that had not graduated with them and they would be coming as well. So I will be going to that high school reunion and not mine.

No one from my high school has read the post from before and no one from my hometown has read that post. They also do not know about my anger towards my classmates over the reunion issue. My blog is still semi private to most people that know me.

I feel very lucky to have good friends that I have grown up with over the years. For them to include me in an event that I should not be, makes me feel very loved. I love my hometown and the people here. They are amazing and sweet. They make me feel welcomed and they always have open arms for me.

Growing up here I hated it but leaving this town and coming back, I have a complete new appreciation for it. I think everyone has to do that once in their life to realize how good they really have it.

Things I Don't Like.

Like most people, I have things I do not like. Some things are normal some are odd and some are things I just think are gross!

1. Sangria. I know...everyone love its but is gross. I can't stand the taste. Mix it with something you say? Nope..still nasty.
2. Cats. We just don't get along. I am a dog person completely. I grew up with my parents having cats and I never got along with them. We knew to not cross paths or things got ugly.
3. Wine. This goes with the Sangria. I try wine over and over. I try to like it, I really do...but I HATE IT. I am sucker for a beer though.
4. Berries of any kind. Odd? I know. I don't eat strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc. fresh. I will eat them as a flavor but not fresh. It is a texture thing for me.

5. Onions. Once again...gross and a texture thing.

6. Scary movies. I used to love them as a kid/teenager but as I have gotten older I have not been able to watch them. I am a puss.
7. Awkward moments. When an awkward moment comes on in a movie, TV, or play I can't watch it. If someone is going to sing and make a idiot of them self, they are going to express their love to someone and fail, I can not watch it. I feel for them and it makes me feel bad. I will change the channel.

8. Any reptile. I will kill it. If I see a snake in the road, I will swerve to hit it. I don't care if it is a black snake. It needs to die. Same goes for bugs. I don't even go into the reptile exhibit at the zoo.
(I will save a turtles life)
What are some odd things you don't like?

Stab Wound

Last night the husband and I were cooking dinner. At some point Chris grabbed a knife and somehow dropped it. During all of this all I remember was seeing the knife go in his hand and I saw blood..a lot of it. I did not pass out, luckily for me I don't faint at the sight of blood, only if you take my blood.

The knife went in about 1/2 inch and the cut is about that deep. After we stopped the bleeding and got Chris bandaged up I tried to bribe him to go to the ER. I tried everything I could last night. He would not go. Now you may think this is a tiny cut. NOPE. I will not provide pictures as at the time I was panicking and I was not going to take any at the time. Also who wants to see that? It is gross.

When I was cleaning the cut, stab wound, shank wound, whatever you want to call it, I could see into his hand. I saw some tissue and some meat and it was nasty. Props to all of you in the medical field. I could not do that. He did not bleed through the night. He says it looks fine today but it is sore. He did not hit any bone. He can move all of his fingers.

So lets pray that it does not get infected because a couple hundred bucks ER visit could lead to a couple thousand bucks hospital stay.

I Was A Slacker Bride

I see a ton of tweets, status and blog updates where people are constantly updating on how their wedding planning is going. They post EVERY little detail of what is going on in the different stages of their wedding. I feel like I was the slacker bride that was like eh..lets get married and do shots.

Here I was a Slacker Bride.

1. I made all of my bridesmaids buy the dresses. #weddingonabudget

2. The only gift I got my bridesmaids was the shoes and earrings for them to wear. They were super cheap as well. Whoops.

3. We didn't exchange some gift before we got married. I really don't see the point in that. We are getting each other as a gift so why waste $ on a gift to my soon to be husband when I can spend on my honeymoon?

4. I forgot to provide fans/shade for everyone. We got married outside in the spring time. I didn't think about the sun and it was HOT for once. A few people got sun burnt. #mybad

5. I didn't research our honeymoon enough. I have never left the country before and wanted to go to a Sandals resort. FYI they are not what they seem on TV. Atleast in Jamaica. Never will I go back.

6. I kicked my own sister out my time for that.

7. My niece cried on my wedding day so I replaced her with a friends time for anything.

8. Picture time? Right....I married a country guy who hates pictures. We got maybe 3 together besides the ceremony and that is it.

9. Speaking of pictures, do you think we took engagement pictures? PSH.

10. Did we post our wedding announcement in the paper for the world to see? Nope.

Honestly though I loved my wedding and I would not change a thing about it. It was perfect and it was our special day. I didn't have pinterest when I got married, there was no cute staged was just me, my husband, family and friends!

Was anyone else a slacker/diva during their wedding?

Country Lovin

Lately I have been slightly obsessing over some county music hunks. I feel like they need to meet me, let me hug them, sniff them, dance with them, whatever I can get away with!! I mean honestly...there are some studs out there in country music that just need a little Rachel in their lives!

1. Jason Aldean. This hunk of man is growing hotter and hotter in my mind. I don't care about his woman troubles with his ex. I don't care about any issues with that. HE IS HOT. I want to kiss his cheek...give him a hug and have him sing My Kinda Party to me. Yep..that's what I need.

Via :

2. Luke Bryan Obviously this chunk of man is on my list of country men I want to kidnap. ( Not really..maybe) I just want to meet him...and hug him...and maybe dance with him. Nothing wrong with that. He has a nice booty, can dance, sing, and seems to be pretty funny. What more do you need?

3. Florida Georgia Line..but more specifically...Tyler Hubbard. He is the long haired cutie of this duo. I saw them in concert and he winked at me which he does to everyone but hey, because of that..we are now dating. He just does not know it. He can dance like Luke, sing like a rocker, and rap like Nelly. I love this band but pretty sure Mr. Hubbs is pretty awesome.

Now....can someone make this happen? Some people like rap music, I love country music. Some people want to meet movie stars, I want to meet country stars. I love country music. I go to every concert I can when they are around here. I am not obsessed over these guys, they are just my country crushes. What are yours?

Painting on a Whim

It was seriously brutal hot this weekend in Virginia. I am over the heat and ready for fall. I may have to move away for the summer to escape the heat. I do not like going outside and sweating the moment I am out there. Not cool summer..not cool.

I went to another wine and design class over the weekend. This time it was at a vineyard that is local to the area. I had a lot of fun. One of my best friends came with me. The painting is of a barn that is there on the property. I really like that because I can have something in my house that is local to where I live.

I love how the paintings turned out. You can't see all of mine but it is fatuous!! If you have not taken one of these classes, then you need to. They are a blast and anyone can do them!

I also got to the spend the entire weekend with my niece. She is a bundle of joy and I love every minute I get with her. She is so funny and I have no idea where she gets it all from! Warning to all boys: STAY AWAY!

This week is our local county fair so be prepared for some fun local post on that!!

Book Read Update

A while back I wrote a post about how I am a re-reader. I just read books over and over because I am scared to read anything new. I get hooked on a series and I can not let it go. I get in these little ruts and I don't try anything new.

I got some comment and feedback from the post on some new books to try. I wanted to give an update on that post. Well, I have read a few new books since then and it has not even been a month. I wanted to give my self a big ole pat on the back for that one.

I read the entire Divergent Series as well as the spin off Four series that Veronica Roth is working on. I fell IN LOVE with it. It is was amazing.( I am excited for the extra little novels that Veronica Roth is also working on.)I now want Four as my my man. I know, creeepppyyy. I was not happy with the ending of Allegiant at all but what can you do? I am not the author.

I also started on the 10th Kingdom. You can not find that book in the U.S. I bought it offline awhile back and never read it. I have the movie at home. It came on tv when I was a young tot and I watched as a mini series and loved it. The movie is about 6 hours long. If you ever find the book or movie, get it, watch it and read it! It is a great one. I know what happens in the book as the movie is pretty on point with it.

I am almost done with the 10th Kingdom and looking for some new books. I am really into Sci-Fi Romance style books. If you know of any like that, let me know!

Over the years I have learned what it means to have a true friend. Recently, I have learned even more which ones are true and which ones are not. I have one friend, lets call them Jane, that I was good friends with for a long time. We were best friends when I was in high school and stayed friends when I went to college. I was such good friends with this person that I was very good friends with the entire family as well. I spent holidays with them, stayed at their house more than my own.  When I moved away from the state, we stayed friends and I included this person in my wedding. We did grow apart but I thought we were still friends.

At some point it became me being the one putting everything into the friendship and Jane not putting anything into it. I got very tired of this. So tired to the point I went off on her and told her what I thought. I deleted her and her family from my life. Awhile back, either before my nephew died or after we reconnected. I try to be her friends. I make efforts. I try to talk and chat with her. I invite her to stuff but she never says yes. She used to get mad at me when I went to things with other friends but when I invite her she never would come with me.

This person is having a big thing happen to them in about a month and a half. It seems I have been excluded from it. At first, it hurt. Now, I could care less. I was not invited. I was not asked to be in it nor was I invited to anything pre-activities. I was very hurt at first about all of this but now, I just don't care anymore.

At what point do you just stop caring and move on? I believe I am at that point. I want to be her friend but that road goes both way. It takes 2 people to make a friendship work and I shouldn't have to put all the effort into it.

July 4th

Over the July 4th weekend we traveled to Canaan, WV and stayed with family. We spent a few days there and it was a complete blast. We took the dogs with us and enjoyed the weather and atmosphere. It is a bit cooler there as we are up in the mountains which I did not mind at all. With our dogs and everyone else there was 5 dogs and at times 7, when the neighborhood dogs would show up. It was a bit chaotic but fun. (once we got home the dogs slept the whole day)

On Saturday morning we went to a parade in this little town and then went to a street festival. I have been before and every year it is a blast. It is a very eclectic group of people and it is fun to see everyone that is there. There is also some of the best food you will ever get. One thing you have to get when you visit WV is a pepperoni roll. They are to die for. I also got to try the Walking Taco. It is basically just chips in a bag with all the taco stuff. I could of ate 10 of these things.

We watched fireworks on Saturday evening. I tried to get some good shots but of course my phone was being a bitch.

We are planning on going back this September. I am running in a 5k in the same town!! If you are local to the area and will be there, let me know!

July 4th AD Space Giveaway!

*This giveaway is open world wide to all bloggers, however you must be 18 years or older to enter!

I am currently spending time with family and friends while relaxing on the coast! A few days off in pure relaxation is much needed and I hope you having as much fun as I am. This day is about much more than fireworks and parties. I hope you take to day to also reflect on those that make the way we live possible and appreciate those that make our freedom possible. While this day holds much historical significance, I find often many forget what happened on this day. So take a few minutes to think about what I said and remember that our forefathers spent today declaring Independence and fighting for their beliefs and freedom.

I Hope you have an amazing 4th of  July & tell me what your plans on for today!

Join us every Tuesday at 7am (MST). This blog hop focuses on content. LINK UP YOUR FAVORITE POST from last week in this fun content-sharing blog hop! I love the idea of blog hopping, but I love the idea of reading posts and quality content on new blogs I've never been to even more. Instead of simply linking up your blog button, you are now able to link up your favorite post you recently wrote. Have a delicious recipe to share, DIY tutorial, or heartfelt post? Share it with us! All hosts and co-hosts put up some unique and fun content from the past week. Make sure to check them out. P.S.- you may still link up your blog button and blog name, but it is encouraged to link up your favorite post instead. You will get more page views and interest if you do so! Some of the most successful blog hops I have participate in focus on content rather than just exchanging follows. You never know who will become a loyal follower or pin that delicious new recipe you posted!

The BEST part of this blog hop? Each week there will be a WINNER! That's right, each week we will choose one lucky blog to feature from the previous week's hop. This hop receives thousands of page views every week, so your blog will have the chance to be center stage for free. You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win. Only those who link up a specific post are eligible to be featured! *You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win.

The last exciting change is that the co-host spots will now be available to all sponsors of  The Dwelling Tree or Southern Beauty Guide. If you are interested in co-hosting the blog hop, email Tiffany or Chelsee about sponsorship opportunities and how to co-host the weekly hop!

Robyn has a beautiful blog filled with lots of fantastic posts. Go check her out. She is amazing at communicating with her followers and loves to meet new bloggers.
