Hair

My hair is driving me nuts. I chopped it off about a year and a half ago and I loved it. I used to have long, blonde hair. Almost my entire life, that is what I have had. My entire family was so used to the blonde and long that when I cut it, they got mad.

One evening I went to the salon and told them I was tired of my blonde hair and to just do whatever with it. This is what I left with.

I love the cut and color. It was a big change and I have kept the cut and similar color since then. I am starting to miss my long hair though. I can't just throw my hair up. It has to be wet to even go up in a pony tail. I can't do a sock bun, no messy bun, nothing. It ain't happening with this hair. Every day I have to style my hair. I can't even do cute curls.

Growing my hair out seems to be taking forever. I am waiting longer to get it trimmed. I am trying to not use my hair straightener every day. I am at the point though that I do not know how much longer I can take of growing it out. I want instant-grown-out hair and it ain't happening. I am so tempted to go chop it off again because I am at the awkward in between length and I HATE IT.

So...should I cut and keep this length..or let it keep growing??

A few other hair issues I have...I have to wash it every day or it gets gross. Any suggestions there?

Bulu Box Vlog

Last night I filmed a vlog of my thoughts on Bulu Box. I am loving this subscription. I have the weight loss box. It comes with 4-5 samples. It also gives you a card describing what the samples are and if you want to purchase them as well. Watch it..let me know what you think.

Also if you want to get your own BuluBox superscription use code BULUGAN169 for 50% off your own box!
Click here for a direct link to join.

Also...please excuse me looking a mess. I had gotten poured down on earlier in a rain storm and decided that throwing my hair up with  headband was the best way to go!

Do you have BuluBox? What are your thoughts?

Just Breathe

Today I freaked out. This morning I was told there was an active shooter in the schools where we live. I freaked out. I was worried about the kids..I was worried about my niece..I was worried. After having the past 7 months of hell and losing Dax, I have reasons to worry.

I was then told it was near the school and the schools were on lock down for precautionary reasons. I am all for that. Protect the kids. The person who went crazy today did not harm anyone and is in custody.

The worst party about when this happens is social media. It helps you know what is going on but it also hurts. People put false information up. They don't know the details so it spreads like a wild fire. I freaked and wanted to leave work when my niece was safe.

Just Breathe.

That is all I can say. Take a moment to breathe. Wait for the the police and schools to inform you of what is going on.

Let's Be Friends!

Welcome to the Let's Be Friends Blog Hop!

A blog hop is a set time frame for current or aspiring bloggers to find new blogs and quality content. It is a great way to make new friends and find inspiration! It is also a fabulous way to promote your own blog and posts.

Dear Friends,

What a day to celebrate! This is the 67th week of the Let's Be Friends blog hop! Thanks for joining us on this special day. Chelsee and Tiffany are extremely delighted to see the way this hop has grown and love to see your faces each week!

Join us every Tuesday at 7am (MST). This blog hop focuses on content. LINK UP YOUR FAVORITE POST from last week in this fun content-sharing blog hop! I love the idea of blog hopping, but I love the idea of reading posts and quality content on new blogs I've never been to even more. Instead of simply linking up your blog button, you are now able to link up your favorite post you recently wrote. Have a delicious recipe to share, DIY tutorial, or heartfelt post? Share it with us! All hosts and co-hosts put up some unique and fun content from the past week. Make sure to check them out. P.S.- you may still link up your blog button and blog name, but it is encouraged to link up your favorite post instead. You will get more page views and interest if you do so! Some of the most successful blog hops I have participate in focus on content rather than just exchanging follows. You never know who will become a loyal follower or pin that delicious new recipe you posted!

The BEST part of this blog hop? Each week there will be a WINNER! That's right, each week we will choose one lucky blog to feature from the previous week's hop. This hop receives thousands of page views every week, so your blog will have the chance to be center stage for free. You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win. Only those who link up a specific post are eligible to be featured! *You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win.

The last exciting change is that the co-host spots will now be available to all sponsors of  The Dwelling Tree or Southern Beauty Guide. If you are interested in co-hosting the blog hop, email Tiffany or Chelsee about sponsorship opportunities and how to co-host the weekly hop!

There are a couple of great giveaways going on right now at Southern Beauty Guide and The Dwelling Tree. Go check them out! :)

Yes Deer

Hello! This is Chelsee this week.  So let's talk for a moment about an issue before I get into the winner. A TON of you linked up amazing post last week, but due to the rules of actually linking up a blog post and and not just your blog url I was unable to pick you. This saddens me each week due to it being a reoccurring event and while as I would love to pick you I can't unless you link up your blog post. So please linkup your blog post and not just your blog url.  Again, I hope that you all continue to linkup your posts each week because I must say that they are all very interesting to read!

Now onto the winner!
I am one that is sucked into anything DIY and especially scarves. Once I saw this post I knew that we had a winner this week. Cat provided an easy way to make your own infinity scarf, which I love because you can use household items to make it. I have to say her son, the photographer, did a great job capturing his mommy in her new scarf. I thought this was a post that you all would love especially since you could use it to make your own customized infinity scarf. I can't wait to make my own and I will probably do this with my mom due to her loving scarves as well! I highly recommend you head over and look at this great how-to guide!

Go check out Cat. Be her friend. She has a rockin' blog and a great sense of humor. GFC connect her. Tweet her today and say hello.

Toot a loo!

Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for us to read all your posts! If you can, please link up a specific post. It makes it easier for us to come and visit!

*Remember YOU can be next weeks winner! :)

Weekend Recap

I had a lovely 4 day weekend and I couldn't have enjoyed it more. I did not clean my house hardly at all, which means I now get to do that during the week. I tried to stay off social media as much as possible. That is really hard to do!

On Friday we had my niece and we took her to the carnival. I do not ride carnival rides. I get sick and no one needs that so Chris got volunteered to ride every ride with her. She was big ball of energy all over the place. I loved it! I also loved seeing my husband trying to squeeze on some of the rides!

Saturday after my niece was taken to my grandparents we met up with friends and had nice cookout/bonfire/party. It was a blast and I love the way we have parties here. In the middle of no where! We were surrounded by trees, mountains, rivers and COWS! You really can't beat it!

Sunday and Monday were more relaxing days and recovering as I am old. I can not hang anymore apparently and after sleeping in the truck for a night to avoid any unnecessary visits with cops, I did not sleep the best Saturday. I relaxed the rest of the weekend. Me and work will not be getting along today.

Something Fun

I ran the 5k Foam Fest about a week ago and I figured I could show you my pictures from the event. It was a blast and I hope to run it again next year. If this event comes to you area, please sign up. It is all about the fun, not your time. Do not feel intimated because it is a 5k or a run at that. It is a blast and I am excited to do it again.

I am not at work today. I am enjoying a 4 day weekend so I hope everyone enjoys my pictures and has a fabulous holiday weekend!

New Design..New Me

My blog is really changing and growing so I thought it was time for a new design. I am loving it and it is here to stay. I had Whitney design it for me. She is pretty amazing and you can check out her and her work here!

My blog has changed from when I first started it. I blog more about running, life, nascar, my dogs and some random stuff thrown in there. I am loving the direction of my blog and I am glad to have my readers along for the ride!

Currently

Currently I am....
....finally not sun burnt from the 5k over the weekend.
....feeling super cute wearing my mint skinnies today. I am loving them. I got them from groopdealz and I want to wear them all the time.
....ready for my 4 day weekend. I get my niece for 2 days and I have nothing planned. Anything ideas?
....listening to nothing. I have no tunes on for once.
....trying to grow this hair out is taking forever and fighting the urge to cut is very very hard. I will be glad once it is finally long again.
....ready for 5:30 and happy hour. Bring on a drink!
....ready for my next 5k in June. I am really into running right now and it is kind of addicting.
....trying to plan a mid summer vacation. We have a ton of stuff in June and September but nothing in between. Any ideas would be great!
Enjoy your Thursday. Its my Friday!

ROC RACE

As you know I am big into races and running in 5k's. Coming up on June 14 is the ROC Race. ROC stands for Ridiculous. Obstacle. Challenge. It is back at RFK Stadium on June 14. Now I am big a fan of races like this and I am super pumped to be able to participate in this race.

ROC Race 5k is the original gameshow-inspired obstacle challenge that features 12 larger than life obstacles like the infamous Wrecking Ball, the World's Largest Inflatable Water Slide, and the brand new Sweeper! This is an untimed event for ROC Stars of all athletic abilities, ages 13 and up - come see what all the hype is about and claim your spot today!

Now believe me, I am no way an athlete. I have recently got into running..as in the last year. I am able to complete 5ks and still feel okay the next day. These runs are great for anyone! I will admit that I do get passed by kids. The thing is..I get and out run these. You feel amazing after completing one of these.

I would say make a team and do these. They are the best to run with friends!

Now personally the reason why I love these races is that they are more about fun and not so serious. I never go to this for the best time. I go for the fun of the race. I want to have fun, enjoy my self and try to complete every obstacle looking as FABULOUS as possible.

The ROC Race is a nation wide race that you can run. If you are not in the area but you want to run this bad boy, click here! You can find a location that is close to you and get try it out!

ROC Race is back at RFK Stadium on June 14 and better than ever before with brand new epic obstacles! Are you ready for this?? Keep $5 in your pocket when you signup at rocrace.com/dc  with VIP code RACHEL but hurry - the price increases June 5th!

If you are planning on attending....let me know. Leave a comment below. We can meet up..snag a picture and you can be featured on my recap of the race!

Army Ever After

Hello! This is Tiffany this week.  So let's talk for a moment about an issue before I get into the winner. A TON of you linked up amazing post last week, but due to the rules of actually linking up a blog post and and not just your blog url I was unable to pick you. So please linkup your blog post and not just your blog url.  Again, I hope that you all continue to linkup your posts each week because I must say that they are all very interesting to read!

Now onto the winner! I had to hand it over to Elizabeth from Army Ever After's post, "I Won't Read Your Blog If...". To be honest, the title grabbed me. I immediately though, "I gotta read this because I don't want to be on the naughty list!!". I am glad I read it because it was hilarious. I am glad people exist, like Elizabeth, who can put into words what all of us are thinking, in a tactful and good-humored kind of way. I cannot do that. I would come across like a flat out capital word B. There are the obvious things most people dislike bloggers to do... horrible backgrounds that hurt to look at, fonts that make you squint... you know what I mean. But you gotta go read her post to find out the rest! Muchas Gracias to you Elizabeth for your post that made me happy.

Go check out Elizabeth. Be her friend. She has a rockin' blog and a great sense of humor. GFC connect her. Tweet her today and say hello.

Peace out!

How To Prepare for A Mud Run

Today I am running in the 5k Foam Fest in Chesterfield. It is a foam run and a mud run all mixed together for a big ball of fun. Over the past year that I have gotten into running, I have noticed that every run is different and you have to prepare for each one differently.

via 5kfoamfest.com

1. Read what they email you. Make sure you read the e-mail because it tells you the important things you need to know. EX. parking, your waiver you need to sign, what to wear, what not to wear.

2. What to wear for a mud run. DO NOT WEAR something you will miss. I am wearing old running pants and a cheap tank. Nothing to fancy because I know at the end...it is going to be ruined. I am going to recycle this outfit for the mud run I am doing in the fall as well. No need in throwing it away. Also no cleats. Yes the cleats help you through the mud but for fun mud runs there is obstacles and you can not wear cleats on some!

3. Pack extra clothes, towels and trash bags for the ride home. They are places to get some what clean and you can change into clean clothes before you make the drive home. Unless you like being muddy and that's your thing.

4. SIGN YOUR WAIVER. You can't run without this and some places charge for extras.

5. Bring ID. They won't know who you are from Jo blow!

6. Run. Yes it is a fun run but you need a little training. I also run before hand and try to eat somewhat healthy.

7. HAVE FUN!

What do you do to get ready for a mud run or any run for that matter?

5 on Friday

It is Friday and I am so happy! It has been a long week since I was off Monday so why not 5 on a Friday??

1. I was at beach all weekend and Monday. I had to come home for work but hey..I was at the beach. We celebrated out 4 year wedding anniversary and it was fabulous!

2. Tomorrow I am running in the 5kFoamFest in Chesterfield. I am out of shape and have been slacking on my running. This is also the first run I am participating in since Dax was killed. I am very excited for it and I hope I do good. It seems to be a good run and everyone seems to be pretty excited and pumped up for it. Lets pray I don't fall over it or hurt my self on an obstacle! My friend Jessica is running with me and we will need each other for this race!

3. There is a new look coming to my blog so stay tuned for that!

4. The rain was insane yesterday. It has left rivers and streams flooded here. So much so that some schools are closed. Our driveway is flooded but I was able to drive through it. I know its not safe but it was not that deep. It was more like a little stream over it.

5. Tomorrow evening I get to go see my friend Pamela. She is graduating from UVA Nursing program and I can't wait to celebrate with her! I am so happy for her so Congrats Pamela!

Things About Me!

I have some odd things about me so I figured a list would be best for them!

1. I don't like wine. EVER. EXCEPT for last night. I actually tried a moscato and I liked it. I may be drinking it more often. Typically I hate the taste of wine. I am more of a Bud Light type person.

2. I hate wearing sneakers. Most of the time I have flats or boots on. If you see me in sneakers I will have work out gear on.

3. I can't swim.

4. I love Nascar. I love it to that point that I have applied to work for them. I never heard back but that won't stop me. I may apply again! I have even interviewed Casey Mears

5. I can play the flute, piccolo and piano. Band dork at heart.

6. I am the youngest of 3 girls. I feel like I got picked on more because of that? Older sisters are mean!

7. I am a reality TV junkie. I love shows like Big Brother, Marriage Boot Camp and Mob Wives. I know some are fake but I can't help it. I love them.

8. I am allergic to seafood! I love shrimp. LOVE IT. As the years have gone by though it has gotten worse so my love for shrimp is done for.

9. I haven't painted my nails in 3 months or longer. They look sad.

10. I get nervous driving in cities or alot of traffic. I can't stand it and I can't have the radio on. Sorry if you are riding with me. If you want to live...sit there and shut it!

What are some odd things about you?
