Foam Fest 5k Richmond

I am really starting to get into running and when I find a run that looks like a complete blast, I am all in. Coming up on May 17th is the Foam Fest 5k in Richmond, VA . I signed up yesterday the minute I found out about it.

It has foam, mud, obstacles and running. What more can you want?

I am running with one of my best friends and I can not wait for it to get here. We have to plan some awesome outfit or at least something matching. I am in no way in shape yet but 5ks are not that bad and this one is gonna be a blast.

We are running the 12:20 time so if you are in the area and want to run with us, sign up! You get a tshirt, medal, a cold one and a photo at the end! Also if you have ran this before, let me know what you think of it! Did you love it?

Thing I Suck At!

There are a few things I am great at but there are also quite a few things I suck at. Everyone has something they are not good at. These are mine.

1. Styling my hair. I mean honestly I try and I try and no matter what I do...it looks like crap. I can't curl it to save my life. I have three hair styles. Straight. Half Up. Pony Tail. That's all you get folks. If anyone has any life saving tips in this area they wold be appreciated.

2. Parking. I can park great if I just pull in the spot. If you ask me to back up and park I need 3 spots, a spotter and a beer. It is too much for me to handle and I may have a nervous breakdown.

3. Finding the perfect strapless bra. Apparently this is impossible for someone with a 38DD chest. If you know a good one..hook me up.

4. Drinking. I drink some but mostly I am a social drinker. I know who would of thunk that one! I hate champagne, I don't care for most wines and mimosas are disgusting. I tried people..I really did. Its budlight, wine coolers and fireball for me.
5. Surprises. I ruin them. I can't keep secrets. I blurt them out. I planned a beach trip for my wedding anniversary and wanted to surprise Chris. Guess what I did? I told him weeks before we are even going! See...I can't keep secrets!

What are a few things you suck at?

Weekend Recap!

My weekend was filled with fun. I did some fun stuff..some house stuff....some store stuff.

1. I spent some of the weekend with my amazing niece. For what she has been through she is one tough little cookie. We took her to a birthday party and it was great to see her have fun with her friends. Also the little girls were adorable trying to bowl.

2. It was so gorgeous over the weekend. I went for a ton of walks as I am trying to work back up to running after taking a bit of time off. I think I am going to start running back this weekend.

3. I got to spend all day yesterday lounging with Chris and the dogs and because I wanted to use this picture of Itsy, I put this in here!

Big Brother

I did...again. I applied to be on Big Brother. I did not do anything special. I did not have a fancy audition tape. In fact I filmed it in my car. I have no idea if I will stand out or make an impression. This is the 2nd time I have send in my application. The first time I tried to be all cute and funny but this time I was more me.

I don't know if I could handle being away from Chris for that long of a time but I really really want in that damn house for the summer. I want the drama, the fun, the slop. I want it all!

So heres to hoping I get in to the Big Brother this summer!
And no..I will not share my casting tape!

High School

Yesterday while driving to work my high school class song came on. Normally when it came on it was just whatever and I would not pay much attention to it except I realized yesterday that next year will be 10 years since I have graduated high school.

10 YEARS!

I have no idea where the last 9 years have went. I feel like it was just yesterday I walked across that stage with all of my other class mates to get my diploma. I thought I knew everything, had life figured out only to be slapped down many notches and have my ass handed to me many times. I have changed so much over the years, grown from the child I was and my friends are not the same. I do not even talk to the my high school friends anymore as some people do. We have grown apart and I am okay with it. I have many new friends as I am sure most people do.

In high school I was not in a group or clique, I was in band, I was not part of one particular thing but many things. I had multiple friends and I did not start drama. I moved to WV my freshman year and had to face high school as new student in a new fresh new school with a ton of new people. It was hard and fun all at the same time. I got to meet new people and learn so much more. I went from a tiny little town to a much large town. Martinsburg was actually good for me and I am glad my parents moved there and I got to go to school in that town. I have a lot of great memories from there and they are all from high school. I am actually looking forward to my high school reunion and yes I will be going. I did get voted most school spirited!

Looking back I would have never guessed I would be married in my twenties, working where I do, living back here in VA, going through what I have the past year and the loss I have. I have grown so much more than I believe I would have guess I would at 18 years old. If I could tell my 18 year old 1 thing it would be cherish every moment! Life has thrown me some crazy curve balls.

I see my fellow class mates online and things they post still and at a point..I feel for them. Some of them are still trying to figure things out and I see them as stuck in a high school mentality and we are all about to be in our 30's. At some point, you have to grow up, put on your big kid britches and face life.

My class song was Tim McGraw "Live Like You Were Dying" which now just makes me smile because that is what I am doing after what I have been through since Dax died.

CK Mondavi and Our Fallen Heroes

There are so many reasons to support our military and troops that one blog post really will not cover it. Working in the law field, I have met several veterans, active duty and families of the military. I love each and every one of them and they are the soul behind every one of you. My husband had a friend from high school go over seas and unfortunately he passed away while there. He stepped on a IED after only a few weeks there. I recognize and the know the important of giving back to the veterans and active duty military. After seeing the hardships my husband, his friends and other families have went through, I believe everyone should support our veterans and active duty. Now..for the fun part. To help with giving back to them and buy something that is American-made along with my love for wine is CK Mondavi Wine.

CK Mondavi is the only American-made and grown wine in the supermarket that you can buy. It is sold for less than $10.00 a bottle. Now you can take my word on how amazing it taste or you can go grab a bottle for your self and try some! I suggest you go try some. It is run by Peter Mondavi Sr., who is a World War II verteran himself and it is out of the Napa Valley. This is also a family run business. Peter Mondavi Sr., is 99 years young and his son Marc works with him along with their winemaker to bring you the best wine there is. It is grown and made here, right there is one of the best reasons to go grab a bottle don't you think?

Now it is sold nationwide and in every US State so you are sure to find it. Between May-August, up to $50,000.00 is donated to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes. Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF), is an organization that supports both men and women of the Armed forces and their families as well. It is funded entirely by public donations, IFHF serves U.S. military personnel wounded or killed in service to our nation and their families. For more information, visit www.fallenheoresfund.org

Please comment below to share your own story about supporting veterans and/or American-made products. I will select ONE reader to be entered into CK Mondavi’s grand prize drawing by May 15. The grand prize is a $500 donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund in the winner’s name!

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Let's Be Freinds

Welcome to the Let's Be Friends Blog Hop!

A blog hop is a set time frame for current or aspiring bloggers to find new blogs and quality content. It is a great way to make new friends and find inspiration! It is also a fabulous way to promote your own blog and posts.

Dear Friends,

What a day to celebrate! This is the 62nd week of the Let's Be Friends blog hop! Thanks for joining us on this special day. Chelsee and Tiffany are extremely delighted to see the way this hop has grown and love to see your faces each week! It is crazy that we have been doing this for 60 weeks!

Join us every Tuesday at 7am (MST). This blog hop focuses on content. LINK UP YOUR FAVORITE POST from last week in this fun content-sharing blog hop! I love the idea of blog hopping, but I love the idea of reading posts and quality content on new blogs I've never been to even more. All hosts and co-hosts put up some unique and fun content from the past week. Make sure to check them out. P.S.- you may still link up your blog button and blog name, but it is encouraged to link up your favorite post instead. You will get more page views and interest if you do so! Some of the most successful blog hops I have participate in focus on content rather than just exchanging follows. You never know who will become a loyal follower or pin that delicious new recipe you posted!

The BEST part of this blog hop? Each week there will be a WINNER! That's right, each week we will choose one lucky blog to feature from the previous week's hop. BarkBox Review

*100% opinions are my own. I did not receive anything for this*

Itsy and Zoey received their very first Barkbox this month and let me tell you, THEY LOVED IT.

I was a little skeptical about ordering but one of my best friends gets it for her dogs and I decided to try it out for mine. I was really excited to get the box for them and thought a medium would do but after going to the vet and realizing I have 2 oxen for dogs I switched up for the large box. It was a very smart decision.

They got the Barkbox yesterday and and I have never seen 2 happier dogs.

There was 2 large bags of dog treats, a ice cream treat, a large stuffed toy and a raw hide. The raw hide did not last 5 minutes. The dogs destroyed it but they loved it!

The stuffed Owl is a HOOT in our house. See what I did there! Zoey has been keeping it to her self. She loves this thing. She thinks it is her baby and walks around with it and licks it. Odd dog that one!

Itsy and Zoey loved their Barkbox and and it is approved by them. They will be getting more! If you want one of your own...click here to get one!

Defining a Lifestyle Blog

I have never placed my blog into a category but if I had to it would be a "Lifestyle Blog". They are so many blog categories that it is hard to find one that my blog fits into.  I am not a fashion blogger even though I own a clothing store. I suck at taking pictures. I am not a healthy blogger or running blogger even though I run a little. I am not a mommy blogger because..I have no kids. I am not a foodie blogger but I do post recipes. I have written a ton of concert post about country music. I have also wrote about Nascar. So where does that leave me?

I am not an expert on anything.

So I fall into the "Lifestyle Blogger" category. Most people think bloggers sit around all day wearing pajamas blogging, that they live with/off their parents, that they are vain, they are know-it-alls. I don't think any blogger I know is like this.

I feel like blogs that are not in the fashion, food, running, diy, mom, etc, categories gets shoved into lifestyle. There is nothing wrong with this blog but when I fill things out about my blog and they ask what I blog about, sometimes I am not sure what to put. Yes, I blog about my life, my ups and down, recipes, my dogs, my husband and so much more. There is never a  place to put this. There are so many lifestyle bloggers that a majority of us are overlooked as they assume we are blogging about our life and who wants to read about it?

Most people assume because I am a "Lifestyle Blogger" that I should be fashionable, take amazing selfies, go crazy over booze, write about my coffee and multiple other things. There are some bloggers who are great at this but not me. I blog about whatever pops in my mind. Not one specific thing. I blog from my heart and how I feel. On multiple occasions my blog is not a happy place due to the tragedies I have had in my life. So where does this leave me?

I have no idea.

Yes, I am a "Lifestyle Blogger" but I am not the stereotype. I am myself, I blog how I feel, what I want and when I want.

I Suck At The Selfie

The other day I was talking with Chris about selfies and how I suck at them. He thinks the word is horrible BTW. I mentioned how I rarely take them and how I when I do, I judge the picture and worry that my eyes look wonky, my hair looks effed up, or the lighting is wrong. See...lots of judging going on just by my self.

Then I post them and gets like and comments and you boost my ego. Thanks for that! Love those comments.

The thing I have noticed with my jacked up selfies is I either make a "I need to take a #2 serious face" selfie or I am making a "I think I am 16 so here is a duck face" selfie. Sometimes I throw in a smile with hair that I just learned to curl, which looks like a 5 year old did it!

I mean really...I can not take a good selfie. So this is my biggest non-blog thing. I suck at selfies.

Signs Your Dog Is a Wuss

Most people like to say pitbulls are mean dogs and blah blah blah. WHATEVER! I have 2 dogs, 1 pitmix and 1 pit. Well..Miss Itsy Bitsy is the pitbull and I am here to set to the story straight.
She is a big baby.

1. She is scared of bunny rabbits. I let her outside a few months ago to do her lady business and all of sudden she took off running and hid behind my legs. I freaked because I thought a bear (they are around our house so it happens) a deer, or some other creature may have scared her. Nope it was a rabbit.

2. Last night Chris was playing with the dogs. He kept squeaking the squeaker in the toy. Zoey just barked any played with him. Itsy....not having it. She ran to me jumped in my lap. She would not go near Chris until the toy was put away.

3. If someone yells she tucks her ears back and hides in her crate. She is not big on confrontation.

4. Rain and snow? Not happening in this little Divas worlds. She won't even attempt to go out side in the rain and snow. You have to force her out in it to go bathroom.

5. If she see's a dog a tiny bit bigger than her self, she cowers down and tucks her tail. Wimp.

6. The bathtub. Itsy likes to fight me in the tub. She doesn't bite me or anything like that, she just jumps out every chance she can so when she sees me taking a nice bubble bath she decides it is not safe and has to stare at me very creepy like and whine.
Obviously she has issues.

Despite all her little scaredy cat ways I love my little Itsy Bitsy!

Hair

I am in a hair dilemma. My hair has been long most of my life until about a year and a half ago and I cut it short. I did the once before and I chopped it all in high school. Typically I have long blonde hair or brown/red hair but last year I went short and dark and I loved it but now the cut has worn off and I need to figure out what to do with my hair.

Not sure what my eye is doing!

I know this is not what most people want to read about but I need help. I am just learning how to curl my hair and I am dying over the Curl Secret by Conair. I am debating on growing it longer and keeping it dark, maybe thrown in some nice blonde high lights or do a random color in it..who knows!

So...with that...I need to figure out what to with this mop on my head. Suggestions are needed and wanted!

Easter Marshmallow Bark

I made one of the easiest recipes I have ever made over the weekend. It literally took me 5 minutes.
I love super easy recipes and ones that have as few ingredients as possible.

Easter Marshmallow Bark

 Ingredients:
1 bag white chocolate chips (12 oz)
3 cups mini rainbow marshmallows
1 TBSP shortening (this is optional but it helps with the melting process)
Easter sprinkles or other fun sprinkles that you prefer.

Line a 8x11 glass dish with parchment paper.

Put white chocolate and shortening in a medium sized glass bowl. Melt in the microwave for 1 minute. Give it a small stir and then return to the microwave for 30 second increments, until the chocolate melts completely when you stir it. Do not go over 2 minutes. You do not want to burn it.

After the chocolate is melted, add the marshmallows and stir to coat. You want to do this kind of quickly-be sure the chocolate coats the marshmallows wells, but if you take to long the marshmallows will melt begin to melt which you do not want.

Transfer the chocolate and marshmallow to your glass dish. Using a rubber spatula, make sure the marshmallows extend to the edge of the dish. Press down slightly to make it all even.  Shake on whatever sprinkles you would like on top of them.

Put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes, until the chocolate is set. You want to do this so it cools the mixture as quickly as possible. You don't want to melt your marshmallows.

Remove it from the freezer and let it set on the counter and return to room temperature. Use a cookie cutter if you like but use a metal one and spray the edges with cooking spray first. I just used a plastic knife.

Enjoy!

Dog Takeover: Itsy

Hey yall..Itsy Bitsy here. You can call me Itsy. My parents misnamed me. I was like 6 lbs when they got me and they thought that even though I;m a pit I would stay small..boy I proved them wrong. Mom didn't feel like blogging so I decided to jump in. I figured I should let you know me! I got out of the crate super early for this post.

Lets see, I am the cutest dog ever. Don't try to argue with mom, she will fuss with you until she is blue in the face. She loves me, underbite and all.
Some people say I look like Yoda or Scrappy Doo. I am neither.
When I get scared, and well I do..alot..I like to snuggle in your lap. I am A BIG BABY. I look all big and mean but really I am scared of rabbits. I know...its a "stereotype" that we are mean..psh.

Mom thinks she knows how to blog but really I got this. I mean, I give her all her inspiration. I sit by her while she blogs and she steals my ideas. I should get all the credit here.

Most of my time is taken up these days. My normal day consist of lounging around the house, eating stink bugs (mom is trying to rent me out for that one) chewing on my favorite rope toy that I refuse to share with my sister, or running until I can't run anymore.

Mom is taking so long to get ready today that this post really typed itself and she had no idea. I mean seriously she takes a HOUR to get ready? Is there food in my bowl yet?
Nope!
She thinks she is Queen B around here, but really I am.
She feeds, washes my blankets, cuddles me, washes me, buys me stuff.
I win!

Okay it is time to eat so I am done with this! I am pretty sure I got this blogging thing down so I will be back.
