The Superbowl

As everyone is getting pumped up for the Superbowl, I could really care less. It isn't that I have something against football, I just do not like sports really. I will watch the Superbowl but not for the reasons that most people do. I only know who is playing in it because of the radio station. Other than that, I have no idea who a single player is in the game.

My Superbowl will be more like this:

1. Commercials. I am sorry but that is the biggest reason I watch. They are funny, cute and sometimes dumb but they make sitting through that boring game worth it to me.

2. Food. I mean you spend all day getting ready, prepping the food, going to pick up food. This is the biggest highlight for me. You can find me over at the food table most of the night.

3. Halftime show. This is like the Grammys for some. If you get picked to sing here, you are amazing! Do not lie if you say you are not dancing and singing to the half time show. WE ALL ARE. I normally make it to the half time show, watch it and then its peace out Superbowl.

4. Booze. is just another reason to drink.

Some of us have to get up at 5:30 the morning due to work. No exceptions so I will be making it an early night! My Superbowl will be food, funny commercials and dancing along to the half time show like I am a SUPER STAR!

So whoever is playing...good luck....I will be enjoying the food and drinks!

Weekend Fun

Over the weekend I went and saw Jason Aldean, Florida Ga Line and Tyler Farr in concert. I had a complete blast and wish I could see them once again with the same seats that I had. I was 3rd row dead center in front of the stage. Seriously people, that was amazing. For one, no one told me how hot Florida GA Line was. Honestly....They are way hotter than Jason Aldean...not going to lie about that one. Also, any band that will drink fireball whiskey is okay with me but next time could you share some with me, that would be the proper southern thing to do.

I do plan to see these guys again as they were wonderful! I ask that you do not steal my pictures please! I took these my self and will have to hurt you!

The rest of my weekend was spent recovering as I am old. My legs hurt from dancing the entire time and my knees were killing me. I am old and obliviously can not handle this anymore but eh..who cares. It was worth it.

I hope everyone has a great Monday!

5 On Friday

Today has been a long week with all of the snow we have had. It is not melting fast enough with the cold and I am OVER IT. I am so glad it is Friday. I decided to link up with 5 on Friday  today since I rarely do it!

1. I got my Erin Condren planner last night in the mail.  I won it from Chelsee's blog. I am so excited to have it. It is for the store and I love it!

2. Tonight I get to see Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line and Tyler Farr in concert. I am a huge country music fan and the only thing that would make this better is if Miranda Lambert was there. I am leaving work early to get ready for it and you can expect some fun tweets tonight.

3. The store is doing great and taking off! I am selling out of things quick so if you see something you want, make sure you grab it. Go check it out. Country Couture I am also thinking of getting custom shirts with the logo on it and maybe coozies...let me know what you think!

4. I was going to get a hair cut, but I trimmed my bangs my self and BAM don't need one now. Take that hair salon!

5. I am starting to cook a lot more and the husband is very thankful for that. You can expect more recipes on the blog. Also, if you have some healthier recipes that you would like to direct my way...send them over!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and makes it wonderful! I plan to do just that!

Vegetable Beef Soup

I never ever post recipes on here but since I love making vegetable beep soup in the winter I figured I would share my recipe. It is super easy!

1 lb beef stew meat
1 onion
2 potatoes (peeled)
1 bag of mixed vegetables (16 oz)
2 (14 ounce) cans diced tomatoes (if you want this in there)
3 1/2 cups beef broth (or 2 14-oz cans)
2 small bay leaves
2 teaspoons garlic powder

3 cups vegetable juice (I use tomato juice)
1/8 teaspoon black pepper

I liked to add noodles to my soup, so I add about half a box of whatever noodles I have laying around!

1. In your large pot or dutch oven, brown your stew meat in Olive Oil on medium-high. Make sure all sides are brown.
2. Add in the rest of your ingredients!
3. Bring to a boil.

4. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered until beef is almost tender, for about a hour.
5. Cover and let simmer for about 30 minutes longer, or until your beef is tinder and your potatoes are done.
s, potatoes, corn, bay leaves and garlic.
Serve and season with freshly ground black pepper, hot sauce, or crumbled saltines, if desired.

If you want to add pasta into it, cook them while everything is simmering and add them at the very end. It makes more of a stew but I love it. Also, make some cornbread to go with it. Super easy and super yummy!

(as you can tell, I took this after I ate, so sorry for the picture being so bad. I had to literally stick my phone over inside the big pot because it was down at the bottom but it was really good!)

Date Night Helps

Last night, Chris and myself, went on a date night. We normally do not go on dates. We are that married couple that just sit at home and we are perfectly content watching tv and eating whatever I cook. We decided last night to go out to eat, go do a little shopping for a few things we needed and to just spend time together. It was one of the best nights we have had in a long time.

We went to dinner, had a few drinks, had a frozen yogurt. We have not really done much with each other since Dax has died and we have both been trying to figure things out as we go. Last night was the first time, in a very long time it felt like us again. I thought for a long time that it was not okay to be happy and to laugh. After last night, I realize it is okay to laugh, be happy and to live my life. I can not sit around and be miserable and think about all of the what if's in my life. I have to slowly move on.

Last night was a breath of fresh air. We ate dinner, had drinks, went to good ole Target, and just enjoyed each other. It was amazing knowing that I can do that and not feel guilty. For so long since October I have been scared to just enjoy life but knowing that I can, not being scared of feeling bad for being happy, is amazing.

I am in no way okay yet, nor am I ever going to be, but I am working on it. I am not going to sit around and be sad the rest of the my life. I am going to still grieve but I want to be happy. I still love and miss my nephew but I want to be happy again too.

Let's Be Friends Blog Hop

Welcome to the Let's Be Friends Blog Hop!

A blog hop is a set time frame for current or aspiring bloggers to find new blogs and quality content. It is a great way to make new friends and find inspiration! It is also a fabulous way to promote your own blog and posts.

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the 49th Let's Be Friends Blog Hop!

Join us every Tuesday at 7am (MST). This blog hop focuses on content. LINK UP YOUR FAVORITE POST from last week in this fun content-sharing blog hop! I love the idea of blog hopping, but I love the idea of reading posts and quality content on new blogs I've never been to even more. Instead of simply linking up your blog button, you are now able to link up your favorite post you recently wrote. Have a delicious recipe to share, DIY tutorial, or heartfelt post? Share it with us! All hosts and co-hosts put up some unique and fun content from the past week. Make sure to check them out. P.S.- you may still link up your blog button and blog name, but it is encouraged to link up your favorite post instead. You will get more page views and interest if you do so! Some of the most successful blog hops I have participate in focus on content rather than just exchanging follows. You never know who will become a loyal follower or pin that delicious new recipe you posted!

The BEST part of this blog hop? Each week there will be a WINNER! That's right, each week we will choose one lucky blog to feature from the previous week's hop. This hop receives thousands of page views every week, so your blog will have the chance to be center stage for free. You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win. Only those who link up a specific post are eligible to be featured! *You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win.

The last exciting change is that the co-host spots will now be available to all sponsors of  The Dwelling Tree or Southern Beauty Guide. If you are interested in co-hosting the blog hop, email Tiffany or Chelsee about sponsorship opportunities and how to co-host the weekly hop!

"STOP Defining Yourself"

I had the pleasure of picking last week's winner, which is exciting since it was my first week of being a Host! If you haven't guessed yet, yes this is Chelsee from Southern Beauty GuideThere were so many inspirational and educational post this week that made this a difficult decision. As I was reading posts I came across this great blog- Everything Happens for a Reason! Whitney is a Southern Belle with a love of fashion, makeup, and hair. She blogs all about her life and also writes posts from Beauty related to  the "Raw, Real, & Honest" ones. She's a Military wife, but is not just a pretty face. She has two bachelor's degrees (Psychology and Communication) and a master's degree (Mental Health Counseling).

I really loved this post about not defining yourself. This is something that I truly feel that many go through. When I saw Whitney posted on this it truly stood out. She talked avidly about not letting a something like "a job" define you, and introduces that "a job" is just one facet of yourself. Due to the judgmental and overly defining world that I believe we live in, I feel that it is important to take time to recognize that we are far more than what we often define ourselves as being.

Thanks to Whitney for this inspirational post!  Head over and check her blog out!

Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for me to read all your posts! If you can, please post a specific post. It makes it easier for me to come and visit!

*Remember YOU can be next weeks winner! :)

Coupons Coupons Coupons

So after a few request I was asked to give away my coupon secrets. Really there are no secrets to couponing. It is super easy and ANYONE can do it. I am in no way an extreme couponer. I just like to save money whenever I can. Here are some tricks I use to save money and get things for free.

First, get free samples. Sometimes you can get Kcups, laundry detergent samples, razors, makup, just about anything under the sun! Target gives away samples every now and then and they are hard to get. Simply go here and get them when available. A few other sites you can get free things to test out are Bzzagent, Influenster,(if you want an invite to influenster let me know) and even requesting them from the companies their selves. Never hurts to ask.

Now with coupons you have to do some reading. This goes way past just getting your Sunday paper or the valpak in the mail. I print  a ton OFFLINE. You have to check with your store though to make sure they accept your coupons. Some stores do, some don't. Here is a list that I go to that DO accept printed online coupons:

Harris Teeter

These are just the main stores I shop at. Each store has their own little limits they throw on you. If you print online coupons, you can't use FREE coupons in the store. They have to be originals. You can't use competitor coupons at other stores.

Also, get a store card, like a MVP or VIC card. They give a ton of coupons out and end up gearing towards your purchases. I just got a $3.00 coupon at Food-lion on top of all my other coupons.

Now to get online coupons, it is super easy. You just have to install this coupon printer on your computer and then print what you want. Here are some sites I use and they are all free!
Smart Source

Now still get your paper, keep your coupons from your store cards. These all add up. My last grocery trip I saved over $50.00 on coupons and $16.00 with the MVP card at Food-Lion. These are so worth it! Saving money is amazing!

Make sure you organize your coupons. I bought a little pocket organizer at Target for $1.00. I separated stuff by frozen food, dairy, veggies, etc. Now when I go, besides having my list I can easily get to my coupons.

If you coupon let me know tricks you do or if you are gonna start, post about it! I can't wait to see!

Nascar is Almost Back!

It is almost that time again. Time to smell burning rubber on the tracks, see cars speeding by at almost 200 mph, tailgating all day long, eating bad food and getting sun burnt. I am so excited for Nascar season to be back in action. They are already testing down at Daytona and you can bet I have been stalking my favorite drivers on Twitter. Unfortunately Dale Jr. does not have a twitter..shame on your Dale.

Every year I go to the spring and fall race in Richmond at the Richmond International Raceway. It is a complete blast! I tailgate all day long, drink, eat food, try to stalk Dale Jr. and Casey Mears. Meet whatever drivers I can and score a ton of free swag. Seriously...they give a ton of stuff away at the races and you can enter to win a ton of stuff. It is free to tailgate and go inside the venue. You only have to pay to go to the race. Not bad if I do say so myself.

I don't do the whole football or baseball deal at all. I am all about some Nascar. I love it. I grew up watching it and I am a huge fan. I have even applied to work for them but they must of lost my application because they never called, silly Nascar! But me are missing out.

I honestly love watching the race though. I can sit down at my house and watch an entire race and not be bored. I will yell at the tv and really get into it. Most girls are not into but my dad taught me about Nascar and really got me to love the sport. Do not say it is not a sport. Any one that has the guts to get into a car and drive that fast has more guts and balls that any other athlete to me.

If you are a blogger or reader and will be at the Richmond Race, let me know! I would love to meet up with you!

Facts About Me

We all have confessions and stuff we typically don't tell people or bring up in a normal conversation. These may not even really be confessions, just random things about me. So these are mine:

1. I can't swim. Well not really. I can doggy paddle and  can swim enough to say my life.

2. I love ketchup on green beans. Don't judge me people until you try it. It is so good.

3. I have a routine every morning I have to do. If I don't..I turn into a demon spawn for the rest of the day. Shower, brush my teeth, contacts, make up, hair, clothes. Do not come to my house and come in the bathroom in the morning or you will see all that is Rachel.

4. I only drive Fords...up until I rear ended my husbands truck. Now I want a Jeep Patriot. MAKE IT HAPPEN JEEP!!!Unless Ford wants to give me a SUV...MAKE IT HAPPEN FORD!

5. I was in band from 6th grade until I graduated high school....whoever can guess what I played may get a special prize! I will draw a random number later...I will be fair and CHELSEE can't play!

6. I couldn't cook until I got married. My mother in law taught me and so did Chris. Now, step into my kitchen and feel my wrath!

7. I have been coloring my hair since I was in 6th grade. No idea what color it should be.

8. I am slightly obsessed with Miranda Lambert.

9. My favorite color is blue!

10. I am the youngest of 3 kids.

11. I went to a christian school as a kid.

12. I am a couponer. My last trip I saved $50.00 with just coupons.

13. I already have my children's name picked out...I am not even pregnant yet.

14. I watch Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman every night with Chris. We love that show and Sully is kind of a hunk.

15. I have never left the East Coast except to go to Jamaica. I have been from Maine to Florida..but not West at all!!

What are some facts about you?

Men should have periods too.

As a female, we all have periods but I believe a man should have just one! I men honestly, I just had my lovely Aunt Flo and let me tell, she was super mean to me. She gave me cramps like no other, a headache for days, and personally I would love to tell her to go on somewhere. I may have yelled at Chris, ate a lot of ice cream and chocolate, my pants were too tight, and gained some water weight but who doesn't?

My husband loves to blame every little mood swing and argument on PMS. Now I do not have to worry about him reading this as he does not read my blog (thank goodness for that). He doesn't understand though about PMS or a period in general. Most men don't. They want women to be all smiley and go lucky but the minute you "turn into the devil" according to Chris, it is PMS. It can't be nothing else. It can not be that they did something wrong.

I wish men could go through just one cycle. Only one! I want them to feel the cramps, the nausea, the headaches. All the joy the comes with a menstrual cycle so they can stop their whining about us having this gift. Yes it is a gift as we get to produce little babies and what not and they can't so they can stick that in their pipes and shove it!

Now I believe this is fair and if anyone could put a word in with the man upstairs about making this happen that would be awesome. I really think guys/men should have to go through just one menstrual cycle. It would make them stop fussing about how it is no big deal and then they would really understand what we are going through!

My Favorite Winter TV Shows

My favorite time of year for TV is the winter. That is when all of the best TV shows are on. I wish these shows were on year round but they are not!

1. Pretty Little Liars.

I love these little liars!! They lie all the time, get caught and wonder why all these crap happens to them! I have no idea how this is a teenager show or even how it is on ABC Family! It is a little to murder-y (is that a word?) and mean to be on there!!! (SPOILER ALERT) I am also super thrilled that Ali is still kicking and not dead.

2. Ravenswood

Even though this is just its 2nd season, I LOVE IT. It is a little creepy and I can't stand watching it at dark or alone for that matter I do love this show. A little Caleb and the day is made! It is worth watching, but is this on ABC Family??

3. The Following

Maybe I just like creepy shows but I love this show. Kevin Bacon is amazing in it and I love James Purefoy accent. It is a great show, great cast, and a ton of killing which is creepy and nuts but it is well written. If you do not like killings and not watch this at all. Almost every episode 1-3 people die.

4. My Big Redneck Vacation/Family

I love this family. They are so funny! I would give anything to hang out with, drink a beer with them...go hunting. The show comes on CMT on Saturday nights and starts this weekend. They are hilarious! If you have not seen the previous 3 seasons you are missing out. This family is soo funny and this show is worth watching! You really need to catch up on the previous seasons!

What are your favorite tv shows that are on or coming on?
