2014

With it being New Years Eve and 2014 just a few hours away I am really looking forward to see what 2014 will bring me. I have done so many things in 2013 and had so much happen that I am ready for a fresh start and a New Year.

Normally I make resolutions and try to stick them. Lose weight, drink less, eat healither..etc etc etc. I am not making one resolution this year. I know I will not stick with them because I never do. Who does really? I just want to be a good person and be nice to people. I think everyone should do that.

This coming year I will be married 4 years, in my house 3, hopefully trying to have a little Rachel/Chris, and growing my store even more. I want to focus on my life, my family and the good things in it. I want my blog to grow and develop as it has over the last year. I have changed as a person and my blog reflects that. I can not wait to see what happens in the next year in my life and see where I am on this lovely journey we call life!

I do not want negative things in my life and I want to have a happy and healthy fresh start to the year. I know there will be down times for me, everyone has that but I want a happier new me and a New Year!
So to that...Cheers to 2014! Have a great New Year!

Campus Book Rentals

I was contacted by Campus Book Rentals about working with them again and since I work for a University I believe we are a great fit! One thing I love about Campus Book Rentals is that they are  affiliated with Operation Smile. They donate $ to Operation Smile with every book that is rented through them.

They now have a new program called RentBack. It is a new initiative that can allow students to rent their own textbooks that they have bought and used to other students all over the country. The best part?? It makes you 2-4x more money compared to the buyback option where you sell your books back at the end of the semester.

Now some details about Campus Book Rentals:
Campus book rentals is a company that rents outs your books to other students! How awesome is that! Now I am no longer in school but I work for a college and hope that all of you lovely college students are reading this! Here are some of the perks of renting out your textbooks:

-save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-free shipping both ways

-can highlight in the textbooks

-flexible renting periods

-we donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented

-Live Customer support 855-200-0021

-Largest Selection in the Nation

-Refer your friends and make cash!
-They also have Scholarships!

2013...The Good and The Bad

2013 has been a hard year for me. It has had its up and downs and I am ready for 2014. What this year has brought for me.

1. I got to interview Nascar Driver Casey Mears. That was a huge highlight for me and a huge part of my blogging career. He was very nice and could tell I was nervous. He made me feel very comfortable!

2. I got to do a ton of product reviews, park reviews and so many other things because of my blog and that I am thankful for that.

3. I went to a ton of concerts. I saw Miranda Lambert multiple times, Dierks Bentley, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, Blake Shelton, Easton Corbin, Jana Kramer, and I am seeing Jason Aldean in January. I may have forgotten one or two..not sure!

That would be Mr. Shelton right there. I like to imagine he was singing to me.

4.  The biggest GOOD news of the year is I opened up COUNTRY COUTURE in May. I am loving it and it is growing every day! I could not do it without all my blog friends, customers and family members. Thank you guys!

5. Some sad news is my car was stolen and totaled this year. Lets leave it at that.

6. My nephew was shot and killed in October. He was an amazing kid and I love him more and more each day. I will never lose my memories with him. We grew up together and he is still in my heart. I have no words to express my loss really but that I can never replace him, I can't have him back, I can't hug him and I miss him more than anything in this entire world.

7. Some happy news is one of my sister came back in my life after the accident with Dax. I got to meet 2 of my nieces and now have them in my life again. I lost my amazing wonderful nephew but I now have 2 nieces as well and they are getting to know my other niece A. I am not giving names as they do not need to be out there.

I have made a ton of friendships through blogging and my blog has grown, changed and developed over the past year. I know I will change still and so will my blog over the next year in 2014 as my life changes even more. I do not know what is going to come in the next year I just hope it has good things in store for my family and my self. I thank every single one of you for reading my blog, being there for me when I needed advice, help, or just an outlet to pour my heart out to over the past year. I have had a rough year and I don't think I could have gotten through it without some of your love.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful year and let's make 2014 just as wonderful!

A Hug

Last night I went home and was upset and not really in a good mood. I was tired, cranky and an emotional wreck. I was in the kitchen and Chris came over and gave me a hug. He literally stood there and hugged me for it seemed like 10 minutes.

Sometimes all you need, is to just destress. I have yet to drink a single alcoholic beverage since everything happened on October 26. I find that it will not help me. Really, right now, a hug from my husband is what is helping me.

Family is all you need sometimes. Chris knows what to do to make me smile, laugh, cheer me up and everything in between. I love this man with all my heart and soul! I could not make it through what I have gone through without him.

Sometimes all you need is a hug from someone you love to make things better.

Have a great weekend!

Healing

Right now, with the Christmas being here and me grieving, I would like nothing better than Christmas to just go away. I know I can not make that happen so I am having to cheer my butt up and be a happy camper. I never thought I would be in these shoes or dealing with all this but I am. You see this stuff on the news and never realize it can happen to you.

Things I am doing to make my self happy right now:

1. Surrounding my self with happy people/people that love me. This is my family, friends, blog friends. I can not take negativity at this point and I am getting rid of it in my life. Around the holidays I really do not need it with everything else I have been through lately.

2. As much as I love music, especially Christmas music, I can not listen to it right now. The other night one song made me cry out of no where so typically I do not listen to music. If I do, it is music has no meaning at all to me. So my love for country music is taking a back seat as Miranda Lambert makes me cry to much.

3. No more reading the news. My nephew is not a statistic. He was a person with feelings, a life, who had a great personality.

4. I am trying to keep my self busy with things I love to do. I am trying to do a lot of crafty projects, I am staying busy with the store, and I clean my house....A LOT!

5. I am trying to keep up with blogging and not be such a sad blogger. I know my writing has been mostly sad these past 2 months and I am sorry for that. My blog is my outlet. It will be happy soon. I am working on it and it is going to take time for me to get back to me.

There are so many other things I am doing but my brain is not working at the moment as I have not had any coffee. I hope everyone had a great day! Focus on the positive. That is what I do every day.

5 Things I Can't Live Without

There are 5 things I can not live with out in my life. I am addicted to things. Everyone has addictions...do not lie to your self. We all have something. These make my world go round peacefully. So without further ado here we go!

1. My cellphone. I do not know how people lived without these amazing things before they were around. I mean honestly...it is up my arse 24/7. My poor husband hates it. I am constantly on Instagram because of the store, twitter because the blog, or Facebook because of family.

2. My hair brush. I know..odd. If you know my in real life you would know I am OCD about my hair and I brush it ..A LOT. I have done this since I was a child. I can not help it. Do not judge me people.

3. Coffee...coffee..more coffee....I mean that is a no brainer right there.

4. My hair straightener.  You WILL NEVER..I repeat..NEVER EVER..see me without straight hair. I am OCD..over the moon OCD about my hair...see #2. I straighten my hair every see single day. I have done so for years. I have to use a ton of product due to this so I do not kill my hair but hey, it is worth it to me! I have also burnt my ears enough times to know better. If you are a hair stylist..do not leave comments about how bad it is for me. I do not want to hear it.

5. Cereal. I am a big kid really. I eat some cereal. We go through about 2 boxes a week in our house. It is pretty bad. I love all kinds, no prejudice against any cereal with me. When we get low, you may see me freak out when I realize I actually have to cook a real breakfast!

What are some things you can not live without??

The "B" Word

It has hit me....Baby Fever. I know everyone thought Chris and I would never have a child but we want one now...at some point in our life. We wanted one before everything happened to Dax but it has been put on the back burner and now sometime in the next year or so the wheels will start moving again.

I used to be one of those people that would get sick of reading baby post and hated hearing about kids. I would tell people I was never going to have one and I hated when someone would ask us if we wanted one. I am not sure what happened to change my mind. All I can really say is literally..it is like one day a switch flipped on and my clock went HEYYYYY it is time lady.

I have a secret baby board on pinterest hidden away from the world, we have names for a boy/girl. (I won't share my names..sorry)We talk about all this stuff but we are not even trying yet. I have everything planned out in my head from the room to the baby shower. I know I don't get to plan it but I will be giving hints to the people planning it.

We have been married almost 4 years now and together 7. We feel like its the right time but it is such a scary step. I know we will never be fully prepared but who really is ready for this? You can prepare as much as you want and you will never be as ready as you think you are. That is what everyone is telling me.

I have a ton I have to do before I can ever start trying, medicines I have to get off of for my migraines, blood pressure and stuff. I want to lose some weight and be healthier. I never thought I would be one to think of these things but I am. Who knew!! I know the date I even plan to start trying. I literally have it all planned out...I am a little OCD about it all.

Am I the only semi-newly wed going through this?

Weekend Fun!

This past weekend I got almost all of my Christmas shopping done. I am so glad it is almost done. I just need to wrap everything and then I am ready for Christmas! I even mailed Christmas cards out. If you want one, e-mail me your address! I am loving sending out cards!!

We got a lovely ice storm on Sunday and here is my recap from that in pictures.

I walked over to my in laws so I had to bundle up but I wanted to look cute!

Itsy was not impressed with the storm.

We made cookies at my inlaws and got to bring them home. I may have teased my dad with pictures of these knowing he could not come out in the weather. He may have sent rude messages back. I will leave that out of this.

You can't tell in the picture but that is my husband mopping water out of the garage. He put my car in there so it would not have any ice in it and so it would be warm for me. He is a sweetie!

It is now calling for 5 inches of snow tomorrow...we can not win. I better get a day off for that as well!

Happy Happy Happy

I am finally starting to be happy and smiling again!! I am not completely over what has happened in my life nor will I ever be but life is adjusting back to how it was.

Christmas is here and that is the perfect time to be happy! I have started Christmas shopping and I am more than halfway done. Chris has bought mine(really I bought did..he just told me what to get). It is beside me and I wanna open it but I believe it is to go under the tree. I am also coupon shopping for the holidays. It is the best way to buy gifts and get them at great prices. If you are not doing this..something is wrong! I am glad things are adjusting back to "normal".

The store is doing great. If you haven't shopped yet or didn't know, I own Country Couture and run it all by my self! Make sure you check it out and if you see something you like, grab it before it is gone. A lot of the new arrivals are selling quick!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and is safe if they get bad weather like it is calling for here!
