Road Rage

Today driving to work there was an accident. I tried to avoid it by going a back way that I know. Luckily there was not a lot of traffic this way so I avoided a lot of the chaos. There was one car that pulled out in front of me and decided to go 20 mph. Now the way I go is mostly dirt roads for awhile. I drive about 50 mph on them but I also know how to drive them. The lady who decided to drive 20 mph in front of me on this road this morning DROVE ME NUTS.

The things she did:

1. She beeped her horn before crossing the 1 lane bridges (that you can see across)
3. She was starting to back up traffic.
4. Her political stickers...she was just starting to piss me off sorry!

Now.....normally I try to be nice and have patience but when its rush hour going to work and you have your head rammed up your butt and 20 MPH is the best you can do, you need to stay home.

When we got off this lovely road we came to a roundabout/circle and she finally decided to pull over and let me pass BUT not without giving me stink eye which I graciously returned. The car behind me was filled with teenagers who were so nice that they stuck their hands out and waved a majestic finger at her.

I was super happy to be around the lady but seriously? LEARN TO DRIVE. I know I may have driven slightly to close to her bumper and I may have beeped my horn at her and given her stink eye and quite possibly have been yelling the whole time but she needs to take a driving course. Just a FYI if you ever ride with me...I have anger issues when I get stuck in traffic/behind someone when I am going somewhere.

FYI it is a 3 day weekend and I just got a email that I can leave early so CHEERS TO THE WEEKEND!

Happy Birthday!!!

Today is Chris' 30th Birthday!!!!!! He is officially over the least that is what I keep telling him.

This fellow keeps me grounded, happy, and sane. He puts up with my shenanigans and hair brained ideas. He lets me do almost anything I want, including opening a online boutique (who else who do that mess?) He lets me get whatever I want for the most part! I know I am the cause of the grey hairs starting to show up on your head. Sorry for that.

He isn't perfect but what man is?? I love this fool with all my heart and I am so glad he is mine. We have had our ups and downs over the past 6 years and I am so glad to spend the next trillion years with him!!!

(Check out that sexy did not last long)

Happy 30th Birthday to the BEST HUSBAND IN THE WORLD. The guy right here is my world and I love him to pieces!

Yesterday I had a health screening at work. I dread this exam every year because I know the results and I do not want to hear a nurse tell me how un-healthy I am. I honestly have been trying to be better about my health. I have been eating better and working out to trying and make my numbers better and make the number on that viscous scale go down. Now I love the way I look but I would also love to fit in the jeans I wore last summer as well. It is only one size, but that is one size I miss.

Now for this screening you are supposed to fast 12 hours before. I followed this for the most part..except I had a few drinks between 7 and 8 p.m. My exam was at 7:40 a.m. So I may have skirted the line on the whole fasting issue there.

I am just gonna give you my I have honestly been trying and I got the same results as last year...if not worst.

Blood pressure 124/68

Now before you go omg you are gonna die on me, I do eat healthy. I do not drink sodas or eat fast food. I have cut all off that out after seeing the lovely results last year. I was told yesterday that I am pre-diabetic and based on last years results and this years that this is a lovely case of genetics since my weight is good and I work our and eat right. So..relatives I thank you. I am not sure what to do at this point to fix these numbers. I am on enough meds for my migraines and blood pressure already that I do not want anymore. Anyone else dealing with this in their mid-twenties?

16 days to go!

I have only 16 days to go and I will be at Richmond International Raceway cheering on my favorite Nascar drivers. I will be trying to find Dale Jr., Casey Mears and Kyle Busch. If you can make this happen for me..MAKE IT HAPPEN PEOPLE. Unfortunately we do not have pit passes :( but I will still have a blast even if I do not get to go in the pits. I will be in the stands cheering on my favorite drivers.

As you know I was given the chance at the spring race to interview Casey Mears and that was one of the best moments of my life. You can check that out here

This time I have no interviews which makes me sad. I would love to meet some drivers this time so I may have to wait in some lines to see if I can score a pass or two for meet n greets. I will be playing cornhole in the field though, grilling out with my family, drinking and having all sorts of shenanigans.

Richmond is a great track to go to. It is a short track and so much fun. They have a ton for you to do. There are games, food, DRINKING, and they give away a TON of stuff at the different vendors. The fans are amazing, mostly everyone gets along. You may see a fight or two but hey that adds to the excitement.

Now I am so excited every year for the race to come around. My parents and even grandparents go with me. Call us redneck/country but it is our thing. We do not watch football/baseball. We watch Nascar! I even think Nascar should hire me as a blogger (hint hint Nascar) are the things you have to take to a Nascar race:
1. Beer and fire ball whiskey. It cost way to much in the race. Get hammered before you go in the stands.
2. A collapsible cooler. You can not take a hard cooler in and if you wanna take in your booze you gotta have a soft cooler that can fold up! (Atleast at Richmond)
3. Food. Pack whatever cooler you leave at that truck with food. You can not afford to eat at the race all day but you do want to try some of the food they have.
4. A grill. You are gonna tail gate. We get there at 7:00 a.m. and do not leave until the race is over...that's a lot of eating. PACK FOOD.
5. A tent. We take a tent every year so we do not get sun burnt.
6. Music...we have music playing so we can dance and have some fun.
7. preferably. This makes a big difference...(in my book at least) You can dance on the back of the truck...sleep on the bed, sit on it, it really comes in handy.
8. Chairs..duh.
9. Corn hole gotta stay entertained.
10. SUNBLOCK FOR PALE FOLK! I get burnt every year so remember sun block.

And that folks is what you need for a race!

My Bucket List

Since we just got back from vacation and had a super long car ride home, Chris and myself got to talk about EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN. We are planning a trip to Florida this winter and are trying to figure out what to do when we are there for the week. We also talked about things to do before the  BIG P and here are some things we both want to do.

My Bucket List:

1. Visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Sorry..but I am a big dork and love the books and movies. I gotta go to this place and drink butter beer, get my own wand and act like a kid again.

2. Go on a cruise. Never been and would love to go...any cruise...doesn't matter. Any suggestions?

3. Go to Europe. I would love to go overseas. England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany..hey..send me please.

4. I have never left the East Coast except to go on my honeymoon to Jamaica  I feel like I need to go to CA once..just once.

5. More blates with bloggers...who doesn't have that on their bucket list? (Okay this is just mine but still)

6. Go to a a few trade shows for the store. (again only mine)

What is on your travel bucket list?

Hey hey hey! It is that time again for BBMVP link up. I am back from vacation and fresh faced ready to go.

For the link up, let me know what you think of the houseguest...who is going home..who will the BBMVP nom.etc etc. So link up with +Kelsey Homolka and I to let us know what you think!

This week here are my lovely predictions:

Seriously...they do not see how she is a threat? She is winning everything. Send this chick packing already. She is going to win the game if they do not. I want to see her broke when she leaves..not rich.

Helen-Nom 1 was about time she was put up. She has been trying to run the house and get people to do what she wants. She played Jesse and really KARMA..she will get you. I hope she goes home.

Elissa-Nom 2
Poor girlfriend is about to lose her stuff this week. One  minute she is crying, the next she is in the game.Pull it together girl. Helen is the target..your safe another week yoga pants.

For real...she cries when she does not win. She is telling everyone what to do and when they do not follow Queen Amanda she is mad. I hope someone backdoors this bish. She is crazy....CRAZY. I hope McCrae does it so it breaks that cold heart of hers.

Gina Marie
This girl is so insane. She randomly goes off on Aaryn and then is the girls friend. Really this cast is nuts..all of them.

So he is being investigated by the cops..really..should I keep going on with this cast?
I think that Helen will when the Veto..because..thats how this goes and Elissa will be sent packing. She has no plans of going to jury and wants to go home...which is dumb...dumb dumb.

I am over this season....OVER IT.

Amanda from A Beautiful MEss

Today I have Amanda from A Beautiful Mess! I love this lady! She is a great blogger and is also a country lover like my self. She recently moved across the country and I was having withdraws from her!! She is super cute and you have to read her blog!

Hello readers of Rachel's Country Roots! Isn't Rachel the best? Seriously one of the most thoughtful girls, ever. She was even sweet enough to check up on me when I was M.I.A. from Twitter for a month due to moving across the country. We are all aware of the millions of blogs and Twitter followers we need (or feel like we need) to keep up with and for Rachel to remember little ole me was pretty amaze.

Anyways, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Amanda. I blog at A Beautiful Mess. I blog about just about everything--beauty, fitness, health and I share the occasional recipe, too! Come say hi! You also follow me on Twitter or Instagram (of which I am pretty obsessed with).

In the last two years I have moved from Oregon to Florida to California. I grew up in a small town in Oregon and moved to a small town in Florida. Both environments were laid back. We were allowed to stay in on the weekends and watch movies, play board games and drink wine. We strolled to the beach around 2 in the afternoon on the weekends for a few hours before the storm hits. We'd proceed to a restaurant for appetizers and drinks before heading home, where we'd make dinner and open a bottle of wine.

Sadly, city life is nothing like this. I mean, don't get me wrong. I love the city. I love great restaurants and shopping. I love this view in particular:
 photo longbeachview_zps6cf4b003.jpg

But I can't always enjoy this view because I am too busy trying to keep up with this lifestyle. I feel as if I have to try every restaurant and go into every store possible. We all know that isn't possible and I am learning to take a deep breathe and relax. A slow process :)

These are some things I am learning and adjusting to in LA city life:
1.) You will always be in traffic. Weather it's midnight on Sunday or 1pm in the afternoon on a Wednesday. You'll be in traffic. Get over it.

2.) Expect to pay twice as much for any product of service. Why? Because they can. People LOVE California. People pay a lot of money to live here. Like a lot. A lot a lot.

3.) Dogs are not allowed on the beaches. If you attempt to let your dog run on the beach for 5 minutes when there is no one around, the lifeguard will still call you out on the loud speaker. Thanks, dude.

4.) It is not easy to get anywhere quickly. Not only because of traffic. But because this place is entirely too large. Happy hour after work with friends? Probably not. Try late night happy hour. Because that's when you'll arrive.

5.) The weather. In Florida it's hot ALL the time. Even at midnight. It cools down in California at night. Don't forget a sweater. Brrrrr.

Thanks for having me Rachel!!!!

Erin's Advice for Maine!

Today I have by far a wonderful post and blogger for you. Erin is from where I am going and I hope to have a blate with her! She is a country music lover and loves Maine. We may not share the love of sports but we share the love of Maine and country music. This lady is right up my alley. If you have not read her blog, you are missing out big time. She is by far a great blogger!!

Rachel's Top 10 Reasons for Vacationing in Maine

Hey gang... I'm Erin from over at She's a big star and I'm posting for Rachel today while she's off enjoying herself on vacation! She's taking her yearly vacation in Maine, and that just so happens to be where I live! Living on the coast is absolutely a beautiful way of life and it's no surprise why so many people choose to vacation here. Today I have a list for you of why Rachel's spending her time off in my beautiful state... some of the reasons she'll openly agree with, but some of them I'm quite sure she likes to keep hidden in her closet! Some items on the list won't surprise you, and the others? Well, you'll just have to come to Maine and experience them for yourself...

1. The Scenery
Living here it's so easy to take for granted the gorgeous scenery we're surrounded by. The ocean is something we see on a daily basis and enjoying all it has to offer is a challenge to some of us... not because we don't love it, but because it's our day-to-day life, not our vacation spot.

2. Our Lakes
There really aren't many things more beautiful on this planet than the sight of a crisp, clean lake. Your options for activities are endless... swimming, boating, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, or laying out on the dock for some warm sun... you can't go wrong spending your day at a Maine lake!

3. Fresh Seafood
You can't get much fresher seafood anywhere in the world. For instance, our beloved Maine lobster... from the ocean to the boat to the restaurant to your dinner plate all in a matter of minutes and a distance of mere feet. Pretty awesome.

4. Red Hot Dogs
I probably shouldn't admit this to you but I have no shame... I freakin' love hot dogs! At the top of my hot dog list is these red beauties that I've only had in Maine. I think a few other areas of the country have them but they're definitely a treasure up here in my home state. And they're good... really good.

5. Dunkin' Donuts
All you fancy people down south love your Starbucks but his New England girl just can't enough of DD. Their coffee? It's just better, I promise.

6. Speedos
Being on the ocean and a short distance from Canada, we have a lot of Canadian tourists in the summer time. Those french men love to don their little speedos on the beach and although I bet she won't admit it, I'm sure Rachel is looking forward to seeing plenty of these in her travels!

7. Outlet Shopping
I know for a fact Rachel will be hitting up the outlets while she's here in Maine. We have lots of outlets and I'm going to bet Rachel won't walk out of Coach without spending entirely too much of her vacation spending money. It happens to me every.damn.time. I walk in there... only I spend my weekly grocery money instead of my vacation money!

8. Rednecks
A couple weeks ago I heard an ad on the radio for the Redneck Olympics here in Maine. I was mortified at the announcement of "toilet seat horseshoes" but Rachel, being the country girl that she is, can embrace her inner redneck! The "Olympics" just ended but I think Rachel is coming here to see what sort of leftovers she can dig up!

9. S'mores
Who doesn't love these little gems? Summer nights here in Maine almost always end with s'mores around the campfire.

10. Whoopie Pies
Our official state treat, seriously. We love our whoopie pies here in Maine... so much so that we have a whole festival dedicated to them (clearly we love our festivals up here!) and even hold the record for the world's largest whoopie pie! Rachel better be indulging in a few of these beauties while she's here!

There you have it folks... 10 of the best reasons to come visit my home state! When Rachel gets back and shares her recap with us, let's see how many of these items she can cross off her list!

2 Truths and Lie from Jessica :)

Jessica from Wonder Whats Next is guest posting for me while I am away...long vacation here people. I am sunning away in Maine..the water is to cold to actually get into! Jessica and I have a lot in common. We are crazy dog blogging...and come from small towns!! She is by far one of my favorite blogs! Add her to your list..for sure!

Hi, readers of Rachel's Country Roots! I'm Jessica and I blog over at Wonder What's Next. Rachel is on vacation this week so I'm filling in for her! I thought it was only fitting, considering she did the same for me when I was on vacation this summer. That's just what bloggy friends are for!
If you're unfamiliar with me or my blog, let me give you a crash course. I write about a little bit of everything. Sometimes it's health and fitness, sometimes it's my favorite TV shows, and sometimes it's Ryan Gosling! Oh, I blog about my dog a lot too. That's her in the picture. She's named after the sister of a princess. Click on over if you're interested. ;)
In an effort to get to know me a little better, I thought we'd play a little ice breaker. How bout two truths and a lie? Ya know, that game you play with someone you just met where they lie to you? It sounds like a perfectly good way to begin a friendship if you ask me.
I'm kidding... I'm the worst liar EVER so you'll probably know what my lie is right away. Ok, are you ready? Here we go...
1 // I did competitive cheerleading for seven years.
2 // There were 17 people in my graduating class. Four of them I have known since before we could write our names.

3 // I have three fake teeth. I broke them when I was in high school.

Ok, so which one of the above statements is a lie? Send me a tweet or go leave a comment on my blog with your guess and I'll tell you if you're right or wrong! :)

Now I won't say which I think it is..but what do you think?
