Yesterday I had a health screening at work. I dread this exam every year because I know the results and I do not want to hear a nurse tell me how un-healthy I am. I honestly have been trying to be better about my health. I have been eating better and working out to trying and make my numbers better and make the number on that viscous scale go down. Now I love the way I look but I would also love to fit in the jeans I wore last summer as well. It is only one size, but that is one size I miss.

Now for this screening you are supposed to fast 12 hours before. I followed this for the most part..except I had a few drinks between 7 and 8 p.m. My exam was at 7:40 a.m. So I may have skirted the line on the whole fasting issue there.

I am just gonna give you my results....now I have honestly been trying and I got the same results as last year...if not worst.

Blood pressure 124/68

Now before you go omg you are gonna die on me, I do eat healthy. I do not drink sodas or eat fast food. I have cut all off that out after seeing the lovely results last year. I was told yesterday that I am pre-diabetic and based on last years results and this years that this is a lovely case of genetics since my weight is good and I work our and eat right. So..relatives I thank you. I am not sure what to do at this point to fix these numbers. I am on enough meds for my migraines and blood pressure already that I do not want anymore. Anyone else dealing with this in their mid-twenties?

  1. O no that sucks girl! I think we are all jumping on the health wagon right now!

  2. My sister is pre-diabetic. She watches fruit intake, fruit has a TON of natural sugars and it can really make an impact.

  3. I was thinking Sunday since I started working from home all I do is sit on my butt all day and then sit on my butt in a different chair all night.

I read that you should take 10,000 steps a day to be healthy and I'm sure I get in 500 or less. Now I am thinking of ways to get more healthy with exercise and with eating. It's not something I ever thought about before but I don't want to end up as the little old lady that can't move at all because I didn't take care of myself.

  4. I'm not, but isn't your mom really super unhealthy in that her blood pressure was all sorts of out of whack? I thought I saw something on fbook about it? Anywho, just keep focusing on tiny aspects and let the bigger ones fall into place. I too feel worried over these stupid numbers that society tells us to worry about but I need to remind myself that being healthy is something that is a bigger challenge than it was even ten years ago. Wishing you luck and I'll keep up on this to make you try harder. Remember you've got that 5k coming up!!

  5. I think it's really hard bc even if you do skip fast foods and sodas the crap they put in our foods these days is so harmful! Drives me nuts

  6. You're a better woman than me for not eating fast food. If ever there's an opportunity for me not to cook, I usually take it! Hahaha!

  7. Ohhh girl. Don't even sweat it. My cholesterol is thru the roof--in the 300's. It's in my family. I'm on meds for it even though I hate it and it's still high. Sometimes you just gotta throw your hands up and say you're doing all you can do!

  8. ugh darn you genetics! I actually don't have insurance so I just don't know...I am sure my numbers are probably awful but I am none the wiser!!

  9. So stressful but it sounds like you're doing the right things... genetics is something you can't change so just do the best you can and if you have to take more meds, well it stinks but your health is important!

  10. Sorry to hear! Good news is you have that info now so you can do something about it.

  11. Super stressful friend ;( Watch out for fruit, it's loaded with too much sugar.

Hey leave me some love! I love reading your comments and I always reply!
