Erin's Advice for Maine!

Today I have by far a wonderful post and blogger for you. Erin is from where I am going and I hope to have a blate with her! She is a country music lover and loves Maine. We may not share the love of sports but we share the love of Maine and country music. This lady is right up my alley. If you have not read her blog, you are missing out big time. She is by far a great blogger!!

Rachel's Top 10 Reasons for Vacationing in Maine

Hey gang... I'm Erin from over at She's a big star and I'm posting for Rachel today while she's off enjoying herself on vacation! She's taking her yearly vacation in Maine, and that just so happens to be where I live! Living on the coast is absolutely a beautiful way of life and it's no surprise why so many people choose to vacation here. Today I have a list for you of why Rachel's spending her time off in my beautiful state... some of the reasons she'll openly agree with, but some of them I'm quite sure she likes to keep hidden in her closet! Some items on the list won't surprise you, and the others? Well, you'll just have to come to Maine and experience them for yourself...

1. The Scenery
Living here it's so easy to take for granted the gorgeous scenery we're surrounded by. The ocean is something we see on a daily basis and enjoying all it has to offer is a challenge to some of us... not because we don't love it, but because it's our day-to-day life, not our vacation spot.

2. Our Lakes
There really aren't many things more beautiful on this planet than the sight of a crisp, clean lake. Your options for activities are endless... swimming, boating, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, or laying out on the dock for some warm sun... you can't go wrong spending your day at a Maine lake!

3. Fresh Seafood
You can't get much fresher seafood anywhere in the world. For instance, our beloved Maine lobster... from the ocean to the boat to the restaurant to your dinner plate all in a matter of minutes and a distance of mere feet. Pretty awesome.

4. Red Hot Dogs
I probably shouldn't admit this to you but I have no shame... I freakin' love hot dogs! At the top of my hot dog list is these red beauties that I've only had in Maine. I think a few other areas of the country have them but they're definitely a treasure up here in my home state. And they're good... really good.

5. Dunkin' Donuts
All you fancy people down south love your Starbucks but his New England girl just can't enough of DD. Their coffee? It's just better, I promise.

6. Speedos
Being on the ocean and a short distance from Canada, we have a lot of Canadian tourists in the summer time. Those french men love to don their little speedos on the beach and although I bet she won't admit it, I'm sure Rachel is looking forward to seeing plenty of these in her travels!

7. Outlet Shopping
I know for a fact Rachel will be hitting up the outlets while she's here in Maine. We have lots of outlets and I'm going to bet Rachel won't walk out of Coach without spending entirely too much of her vacation spending money. It happens to me every.damn.time. I walk in there... only I spend my weekly grocery money instead of my vacation money!

8. Rednecks
A couple weeks ago I heard an ad on the radio for the Redneck Olympics here in Maine. I was mortified at the announcement of "toilet seat horseshoes" but Rachel, being the country girl that she is, can embrace her inner redneck! The "Olympics" just ended but I think Rachel is coming here to see what sort of leftovers she can dig up!

9. S'mores
Who doesn't love these little gems? Summer nights here in Maine almost always end with s'mores around the campfire.

10. Whoopie Pies
Our official state treat, seriously. We love our whoopie pies here in Maine... so much so that we have a whole festival dedicated to them (clearly we love our festivals up here!) and even hold the record for the world's largest whoopie pie! Rachel better be indulging in a few of these beauties while she's here!

There you have it folks... 10 of the best reasons to come visit my home state! When Rachel gets back and shares her recap with us, let's see how many of these items she can cross off her list!

  1. Living on the coast really is the best.

    1. Beautiful, isn't it?! It's so easy to take for granted sometimes!

  2. I have always wanted to go to Maine! We have Rednecks in Missouri too.... We just call them Hoosiers. It's a total St. Louis thing though.
