I took the past week off from work which was amazing and I used it to decorate the house and to get ready for Thanksgiving with the family. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving in West Virginia with my husbands family. I did miss my family but it is always great to see the rest of my family as well that we do not get to see that often. We all brought a dish to the Thanksgiving dinner so I made baklava and cheese ball! I did not take a picture of the cheese ball. I am the worst for taking pictures but I did get one of the baklava. That is my go to dessert recipe.

This is me with some family members!! I wore a lovely sweater dress with stockings and boots! Sadly no other pictures were taken for you to see.

We also got out Christmas Tree up. If you look close enough you might be able to find the shot gun shell lights my husband found in Freeport Maine that are on there. Ignore the vacuum and my windows!

We also had some lovely deer chops when we got back home. They are just like pork chops..but with deer meat. I love deer meat and this was so good.
I leave you with a lovely picture of my view today from the office..can you figure out what that building is??

Black Friday/Cyber Monday

I went to WV for Thanksgiving and wanted to go shopping with all the crazy people for black Friday. I had plans to go out on Friday and meet up with my friend Alex in Fairmont but because the lovely weather in WV is unpredictable that did not get to happen. I had to do my shopping online. I did manage to snag 3 dresses and a pair of jeans on line for a good deal. I am excited and can not wait for them to get here..lets pray they fit. Now for cyber Monday..I do not get into this. I feel like it should end with black Friday. I just do not get why it is dragged out so much. Every one has spent all their money already? Also..I need to save my money and not blow it all on Christmas just yet!!! Have you went shopping yet??

Here is what I got for black Friday shopping..what deals did you get?

I loved this dress and it has that color block look to it.

This one is great for any shape but perfect for mine :) It will help make my look a little smaller.

I love leggings and skinny jeans and wanted to try out jeggings. I do not know the difference or if there is one so I got these to try.

I got this sweater dress in a blue/black stripe but I can not find that picture. I did not get this red. I would look like a big red blimp. I love sweater dresses with some leggings and boots.

Sweater dress time

I have been searching for a sweater dress for a long time that I can have for the winter time. I want one that I can wear to work and still wear out if I want to. The ones I have now are too short for work. I looked at stores online and I was not willing to pay alot for a dress. I even went to and then ebay. I ended up on ebay bidding on a dress and paid 12.50 for a dress. Where else does that happen? I can not wait to get this dress and wear it! What do you think?

Daily pin of the day

Peanut Butter Cup Brownies-These look so good and would be great for the holidays!
Makes 40 brownies as adapted

1 box of your favorite brownie mix
1/2 cup peanut butter chips
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray or grease 40 mini-muffin cups.

Prepare boxed brownie mix as directed. Spoon batter evenly into muffin cups (about 1 heaping teaspoon). Bake for 13-15 minutes or until top is set and a toothpick inserted into center comes out slightly wet. After brownies are out of the oven, wait for centers to fall. This will happen upon cooling. If not then tap the centers with the back of a teaspoon to make a hole for the peanut butter.

Place peanut butter in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 45 seconds then stir. While brownies are still warm spoon about half a teaspoon of peanut butter into the center of each brownie. Top with semi-sweet chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. Cool completely in pan.

Christmas Tree

We got in the Christmas spirit early and decided to put up on Christmas tree on Saturday. I bribed my husband with steak and eggs for dinner to get it out of storage. I love Christmas and the decorations. It is not about the presents for me. I just love the tree and decorations. We even have that little village that my parents gave me and we set that up every year as well.

Here is what our tree looks like..what about yours? We still need to get a star for the top since the angel is too big for it!

In need of hobby

I am in need of a hobby so I am going to take up crochet-ing. I have bought everything today and even gotten the yarn. I hope I can pick up on it so hopefully I can make loads of stuff. I need to find a hobby and make cute things so I am not just sitting around the house being bored or spending all day on pinterest or window shopping on line for clothes that I want but will never buy. Does anyone else have any fun hobbies that they do on the weekends that are fun?

So as I mentioned before my cheese ball recipe is amazing. I make it every year and multiple times a year and I tend to take it Christmas parties every year. Every one loves them. It is very simple. You can even give it as gifts if you are running low on funds because hey..who does not love food?

2 packages of cream cheese
Chop up some onions(whatever you feel like putting in it)
Chop up some green peppers and red peppers (Whatever you feel like putting in it and it adds to the Christmas spirit with the color, you can also you jalapenos for a little bit of kick)
A teaspoon of sour-cream..add a little more if you desire
About a handful of whatever shredded cheese you want to add to it. I put in cheddar or the Mexican.
A pinch of seasoning salt. (do not over do it with can be bad!)
Whatever nuts you want on the outside. I typically use walnuts.

Mix all the ingredients (except the nuts) together in a blender....I find that a kitchen aid mixer works the best. Add extra seasonings/cheese/peppers or whatever you like. Once it is all mixed together, roll it into a ball and then roll it over the nuts until covered! And enjoy!

Shed them pounds!

So I have recently started a new diet. I even went shopping with the husband and got healthier food for me to eat. He is even on board and trying to eat better. I want to lose about 15-20 lbs and getting skinny!! I am not big but I am not like..little! I ma average I guess. Well here is my lovely lunch today.

Carrots and 70 calorie chicken noodle soup. I know, it does not sound the best..but hey a girl has to do what she has to do. I would prefer some Doritos with a nice sandwich right about now(My friend Alex always brought sandwiches and chips...makes me think of her) but I was told to cut out breads. Do people know how hard it is to cut out bread??? Holy crap that is one of the hardest ones to do.....okay I am done ranting for the day..possibly. Back to eating my boring lunch!

My rant

I have lately become very disgusted over student loans. I have racked up a pile of debt over these suckers and can not seem to get them paid off. I feel like all I do is get more and more debt. I was wanting to get back to school and get my Masters in Legal Studies but when I looked at how much I owed and what I was going to have to pay again, my Masters went right down the toilet. Flushed away..never to be seen again. There is no help out there unless you are loadddeeedd. I feel like I have to join the reserves or something on the weekend just so I can get my student loans paid off. I am at my wits end. Does anyone have any advice for paying them or getting help to pay them off? I am about to start panhandling this shit!

Catch up

I have not posted much in a few days so I thought I would catch you up. I spent the weekend with the husband. We pretty much relaxed took it easy except he worked in the garage. He is in the process of opening up his own business. We are about to hit the first year mark! Woot! Went to the grocery store..not much fun there. No fun shopping at least. I hope to go to Target/Kohls or somewhere fun soon. The one fun thing I did get to do was a friend got us tickets to the UVA Womens Basketball game this past Friday and it was in the presidents box.

After sitting in the box and getting the VIP can you go back to regular seats? AGH I have to try and adjust to it though as I have no choice. The one thing I did not how long a basketball game lasted. I thought we still had 2 more quarters to go when the game was ending.

What did you do over the weekend?

Brr its cold outside

It is getting cold outside again (except for today) and I had to break out my winter jacket. I love peacoats and wish I had one. I have a L.L. Bean jacket that I got in Maine at the big L.L. Bean store 2 years ago. I love this coat but its long and I want to get a short one. So here are some of the ones I am  looking at. I want some feedback on which I should get.

I like this one a lot but I want it in grey/black. It is a little pricey though.

d.e.t.a.i.l.s Hooded Peacoat

I like this one a lot because of the strap you can tie at the waist and it has a hood on the top. It is a bit cheaper then the first coat as well.

Croft and Barrow Plaid Wool Peacoat - Petite

This one is just to cute and I think is amazing. It has the belt as well but no hood. The coat I have now has the belt but no hood and is very long but not as long as this.

I am up for any color except for white or green! Any other ideas? These are all at Kohls which is my place to shop! Let me know what you think! xoxo

Today I found that I was in need of new dress pants but every time I go to get some they do not have my size. I looked on and found what I needed. If you order in store they do not charge shipping but online they do. I have some coupons already but was not wanting to pay the shipping. Well I was savvy today and googled kohls coupons and up popped a website that you can find here and there was free shipping and % off stuff. I was thrilled. I got free shipping and lots of other things off my order! You should never pay full price for anything! Remember that and always buy things on sale! Never pay the original amount for it!! I got a pair of $40.00 dress pants for $20.00 with no shipping cost! I am a happy camper!!

Do you have any secrets of shopping like that? xoxo

I am nuts over shoes. does not matter. I love them no matter what. I have a closet floor full of shoes and I refuse to get rid of any. As any girl..I bet they do the same. Mostly right now boots are in. I prefer flat boots to wear in the fall/winter so I do not fall down..I tend to be clumsy! Here are some really cute ones that will not break the bank!

Women's Mossimo® Kasey Boot - Assorted Colors

These are from Target and only cost $25.48. You can get them here.

Womens Adi Designs Microsuede D-ring Slouchy Boots

These are also from Target and come in 3 colors. Beige and black as well. They only cost $37.99 and you can pair them with leggings or with a pair of skinny jeans! You can get them here.

These boots are called the Arizona Daisha Straps and they are at JCPenny. They cost $50.00. These are great for winter and summer. I have these and I love them. They go good with jeans and you can wear them anywhere!

These lovely boots come in black and brown and are at JCPennys. They cost $40.00. You can wear these ones to work or out somewhere.

What shoes do you love? Is there a certain place you prefer to shop at or certain type of shoe you like to wear??

Daily pin of the day

I saw this today on pinterest and thought it looked amazing. This would be good around the holidays or even just for a party. It is called peanut butter cheeseball.

Peanut Butter “Cheese Ball”
adapted from Nestle
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, at room temperature
1 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter (not all-natural)
3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
3/4 cup peanut butter chips
Graham cracker sticks, teddy grahams, and/or apple slices for dipping

Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, peanut butter and brown sugar in large mixer bowl until blended.

Spoon onto a large piece of plastic wrap; bring up all four corners and twist tightly forming into a ball shape.
Freeze for 1 hour 30 minutes or until firm enough to keep its shape. Place peanut butter and chocolate chips in flat dish. Remove plastic wrap from ball and roll ball into morsels to completely cover, pressing morsels into the ball if necessary.
Place ball on serving dish; cover and freeze for 2 hours or until almost firm. (Can be made ahead. If frozen overnight, thaw at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes before serving.) Serve with graham cracker sticks, teddy grahams, or apple slices for dipping or spreading.

If you are brave..and do not care about calories please make this amazing dish! Let me know how this taste!!

Daily pin of the day!

Drunken gummy bears! This combines some of my favorite things! Gummy bears and vodka! You put the gummy bears in a container and pour the vodka over it and let it sit in the fridge for a week. The key to this is turning them every day! Remember that. You can use vanilla or whipped cream. There is even a gummi flavor vodka now too that would be good! If you try this let me know how it turns out! Do you have a fun drink or treat? xoxo

Cream Cheese Cinnamon Bars

I make this dessert from time to time and thought I would finally share it. It is very easy to make and only takes a few minutes to put together.

Cream Cheese Cinnamon Bars
2-large tubes Pillsburry crescents rolls
1-cup sugar
1-tsp vanilla
2-8oz cream cheese softened
3/4-cup sugar
1-stick butter
1-tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla(the best thing to use is a kitchen aid mixer! It makes the job go quicker and easier) Unroll one of the tubes of crescents but do not pull them apart. Put them on the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the crescents. Put the other tube of crescents over the cream cheese. Pour the melted butter over the crescents. (I do not use all the butter..this is all on you) Mix 3/4 cup sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle it over the top. Bake for the 30 minutes then enjoy. We eat this hot or cold. It is good hot with some vanilla ice cream :)

Here is what it looks like when done. It makes a cripsy top and is so good. If you try it let me know! xoxo

Baby Shower

Today I went to a baby shower for a co worker and had a blast. The person who threw it made all of the decorations and the food. I was amazed with how talented she was. The decorations them selves looked great. Here are some pictures!!

The things hanging down from the ceiling she made out of tissue paper and the flower arrangement on the table as well. The cupcakes beside it are actually party favors that are towels!
Its a girl!!
Here is a up close picture of the cupcakes that were the party favors. They are so cute that I have not decided whether or not I want to use it or keep it for looks!! We also played a game with things related to having a baby and you have to write a name of candy beside it! It was a great baby of the best I have ever been too! What have you done this weekend? Any good ideas for baby showers? xoxo

Thursday, November 1, 2012

So my friend Jess told me about this website . If you go through the link on Good Morning America today you can get 2 for the price of one. They will ship you cupcakes to your house in mason jars and they look really good. How awesome is that!

Morning after!

So its the morning after Halloween and somehow we have sped through the year and made it to November already! We had no trick r treaters last night so me and the husband decided to get pizza instead! We ordered Domino's which will make anyone happy! I did dress up the dog again just to amuse me! I say she secretly likes it even if she hates it! Today all of my coworkers have been bringing in their left over candy and this is what was on the table at work across from my now I have to try and not eat this!

Did anyone else have a lot of trick r treaters? What did you do fun for Halloween? Can you believe it is already November? Where did the year go already!! xoxo
